To Be Me

Oh, what a wonderful thing, to be
the bit of universe that’s me!
to count the stars and climb the trees,
to wade the creeks and sail the seas.

What an incredible thing, to live
to smile and cry, receive and give
to stand and jump and leap and fly
to smell the earth and feel the sky.

Oh, what a fabulous thing, to dance
to seal a friendship with a glance
to run and feel your muscles move
exactly how they’re made to do.

What a spectacular thing, to know
to see the world from my window
to laugh and live and love and dream
to reach for impossible things.
