The Volcano Mistake

Barry Einstein was the smartest student in Space Public School 20. Since Barry never played virtual games, he spent all his time studying. His best friend, Ryan Warner, moved from the planet Chenti 6 after it was overrun by robots. Ryan became Barry’s neighbor and closest companion. He had a superhuman sense of smell and loved to play virtual games.

Barry was delighted after his alien teacher announced an upcoming science fair. He immediately thought of the most complicated project to make, an automatic, atomic, G-force-proof mini-volcano.

He started on his volcano as soon as he returned from school. As he was looking at the supplies on his hover checklist, he noticed he was missing G-force powder. He asked his mom to teleport the powder, since his robot assistant was still charging. He knew he could trust his mom, who was always helping him do well.

His mom returned not only with the G-force powder, but also with some cupcake powder so the family butler could prepare dessert for their delicious five-course supper.

Barry finished his project a full hour before bedtime, so he read the thirteenth edition of Nexter’s Dictionary.

The next morning, he tested his volcano. First, he went to the atomic-proof room, with permission from the principal. Barry took his fully automated remote and carefully spoke the command. Within a few seconds, the volcano erupted, disturbing the entire hovering school.

On the G-force test, though, he wasn’t as pleased. When the G-rocket landed, his volcano looked like an overcooked cake. Ryan’s only comment was, “I smell cupcakes.”

Frustrated, Barry went to his mom for help. Together they gathered the materials to create a new volcano. When they went to measure the G-force powder, Barry found the container was still unopened. He then retrieved the cupcake powder and discovered it was almost all gone, but the butler had used only a little for dessert. I must have used cupcake powder on my volcano, Barry thought.

After that, Barry perfected his volcano and earned his usual A+.
