Comparing Reading Music to Reading Stories

In what ways are reading music and reading stories the same? Different?

For one thing, if you only can read in Hebrew then you can read books written in Hebrew, but the alphabet of music is the same across the world. This says that no matter what language you speak, you can still read and listen to music.

When you read a story and you visualize say, a person, the book has given you information on what the person looks like, so you are not exactly making the picture of the person up. However, people sometimes visualize pictures when playing or listening to music. You might play the same song, and twenty different people may visualize totally different pictures. Only the volume or feeling of the song can help you with your picture on music. On books though, you usually have some details explaining what your person looks like.

When you read music or just a story, you are reading symbols representing something. Music and English both have symbols standing for a sound or letter. This is something that connects them, makes them the same.

You don’t have to be able to just read music and understand. You can listen to music and still be moved by it. Music makes an impact on the world and is so powerful because it is part of cultures around the world and has the power of happiness. Anyone sad my turn instantly happy by the sound of music. Music can make you feel just about anything, from scared to calm. Even a simple tune has its feelings. People may not speak your language but can still listen to the same piece and feel happy or dazed by it.

Music is important. People and the world need it, and without music the world would be a dull place.
