New Poetry Contest: Birds

Submitted by: Sara W., age 9, Middleboro, MA

In the dead of night,
I hear the call as soft as light,
Whispering his silver song.
He is the one, he guides me along.

Eyes of gold and wings of black,
He looks ahead and never back.
Hear his wisdom of the trees,
Bow to him on your knees.

But in the first rays of sun,
He’s not there, he is gone,
But maybe in your dreams tonight
He will guide you on the path of light.
