The Misunderstood Rescue

Once upon a time there was a greedy knight. He wanted to do something so that he would get a reward of the king’s gold. One day he decided to come up with a plan.

He thought and thought and thought until finally he came up with a plan that would give him a reward. He knew that the king had a daughter named Princess Maya. The knight intended to lock Princess Maya up in a tower and accuse a friendly dragon of committing his crime.

First he had to lure the dragon to the castle so that he would make it look like the dragon did it. He cooked some meat to attract the dragon toward him. Then he captured Princess Maya and locked her up in a tall tower. He made sure that the dragon was there, eating the meat he had cooked. He called for the king to come see that the dragon had sealed her up.

“Oh dear!” said the king. Then the king ordered the knight to fight the dragon. The dragon wanted to save Princess Maya, because he had seen the knight lock Princess Maya up in the tower. He wanted Princess Maya to be safe and for himself not to be put in the dungeon.

While the knight fought the dragon, the princess had her own idea. “While those boys fight, I’ll escape by myself by taking out my hairclip and using it to pick the lock on the door of the tower and silently sneaking out the window and back to my castle with the king. So she did.

And finally the dragon won the fight. Now the king understood that the knight actually locked Maya up in the tower, and the  knight was put in the dungeon. Even though the knight was mad at the rats in the dungeon for eating his leather boots, he still became friend with them. Then everyone lived happily ever after.
