New Poetry Contest: Take a Bow

New York City – A Moment in Time

Out on the bustling streets,
Rain sliding down already wet jackets,
Lofty buildings like spears
Poke and prod the slate sky
As a mellow jazz band softly serenades
The passersby.
Trumpets bellow the sweetest of tunes,
Drums softly pat,
And saxophones boom.
Tunes like the chirping of birds
Spill into the air,
Turning the raindrops into jewels.
And the weary feet of workers
Rejoice in a lost dance
Of music.
