New Poetry Contest: Take a Bow

Submitted by: River S., age 12, Landenberg, PA

Spring’s Debut

All the world’s come to attend
This verdant debut is all the rage
Winter’s act has come to an end
As Spring takes the stage

With joy, the birds begin to sing
The chorus’s rising cadence
Bees and squirrels enter from the wings
Flowers flaunt their radiance

All Spring’s best make up the cast
Shining in full bloom
Their talent remains unsurpassed
They need no lines, nor costume

The trees rustle their applause
And off trots the season’s final fawn
Summer will come; it’s nature’s laws
Once Spring’s curtain is no longer drawn
