New Poetry Contest: Holiday Magic

Feathery

A creak of timber, perhaps, or
Silky snow that slips from a tree.
I find myself awake once more.
The pale sky is feathery.

The moon falls silver, softly so
The only one who knows is me.
It shines off freshly fallen snow.
The pale sky is feathery.

Some snowflakes tap the window, and,
As silent as a thought, they flee.
They swirl down to rest on land.
The pale sky is feathery.

The magic of the stillness stands
On everything that I can see.
Winter’s cold but gentle hands
Embrace the sky that’s feathery.
