Race to the Snow

As I sleep, little do I know
That outside my window, it’s raining snow!
White flakes of frozen water and dust
Have covered the world in a powdery crust.

I wake and I run to the window to see
A beautiful winter painting ’round me!
Like dancers, the snowflakes are twirling and leaping
While underground animals are silently sleeping.

I run downstairs, and to my surprise,
The heater’s off, and the room’s like ice!
But it doesn’t matter, for today is the day
When I will be out in the snow to play.

I pull on my coat and my winter boots
Oh, the sun is out! I’d better scoot!
I have to get in a lot of play
Before the snow melts and the fun goes away.

I rush out the door and into the yard,
So pretty, it looks like a Christmas card!
I’m finally out, oh, what do you know,
I’m final out to play in the snow.
