Valerian’s Vengeance
Valerian dropped silently onto the floor of the ship and quickly scampered onto the metallic wall with long black claws. He croaked, and two more creatures, his brothers, landed. The hole they had bored through the ship was already being automatically patched by gelatinous substances. He grinned and showed huge, sharp teeth. His five-feet-long spiny body glistened from water, and his green tail whisked side to side, flicking water in the air.

Wait till the Humans saw what “Destroyer Parasites” were inside their precious high-tech ship! This was a perfect vengeance for all the removal of Valerian’s kindred, who were captured using nets and chains, then moved to tiny reservations.

Suddenly a Human came running down the gray corridor, his feet echoing in the contained space. One of Valerian’s brothers dropped back into the corridor and uttered a high-pitched yowl that echoed through the corridors. The Human was so shocked, he ran back down the corridor, shouting, “Parasite #24543 on board! I repeat, evacuate immediately!”

“Be careful,” Valerian told his brothers as they separated into the corridors.

Soon he could hear machines buzzing and doors opening. Then two Humans ran past with guns. No one saw Valerian’s tail whipping past, and the two Humans were whisked off their feet, landing headfirst in the corridor. Another alarm went off, and Valerian now heard, “Evacuation pods ready!”

Valerian scuttled around the corridors and found an empty control room. The controls showed that the ship was deserted. Suddenly, he had an idea. Valerian found a button that read DISABLE ENGINES and banged it with his snout.

The monstrous ship lurched sideways. Valerian scuttled to a window and saw the ship was now lying at the bottom of the sea, murky algae rising up all above it. His brothers crowded in, chattering in croaking sounds. Valerian caught what they were saying and smiled. This will be a rather cozy place to live with our family and friends.
