The House Dragon

I’ll eat you for dinner.
In fights, I’m the winner.
My claws are sharper than swords.
And gold? I’ve got  hoards.
That’s what you hear.
That’s what you fear.

Not so. I’m a tame fellow.
I’ll greet you with a friendly “Hello.”
I won’t mind if you poke,
And my wings are a joke.
I have a big potbelly,
And soon, you’ll love me.

I don’t use my fire, claws, or teeth,
(Except for when I eat).
I’ll boil the water
And make the house hotter.
I’ll always screw on the toothpaste cap,
And you won’t need a mousetrap.

So you see, I’m useful and friendly.
I’ll always eat my broccoli.
I’ll do your chores and clean your room
So all your messes will meet their doom.
Snip-snap! I’m done.
I’m the useful house dragon.
