The Battle Lapdog

She prepares herself for combat,
Every inch of her intense,
For her main goal is attacking,
Not just self-defense.
For those who are craving extreme gore,
It might make you slightly sad
If I tell you that the object
Of her fury is my dad.
He whispers fiercely in her ear,
“Good Sissy! Lover Boy!”
For this little warrior finds his shirt
More toothsome than any toy.
The skirmish wages minutes more.
I roll my eyes and snort
For other people need the couch . . .
But it is enjoyable sport.
Nobody else comes near the couch
Because they are not so dumb
As to unleash Sophie’s wrath
On their much needed thumbs.
Finally the melee is over
And after letting their feelings loose
Sissy and Dad shake hands (or paws)
And declare a truce.
