The Literal Library Poem

I’m at the library
They say “Don’t judge a book by its cover”
Does that mean what’s on the cover of the book
Doesn’t’ have anything to do with the story?
I pick up some books and look at the covers
They look interesting, but then I remember
So I put them down
I can’t seem to find the right book for me
What did I do wrong?

I’m at the library
They say “The library has endless books”
I look around
I can find the end
What do they mean then?

I’m at the library
They say “Be quiet at the library”
I sit down to read
Somebody whispers to me
I don’t answer
They make a weird face
What made them do that?
I’m supposed to be quiet, aren’t I?

Why do people say such confusing things?
