Fight over a Movie

“I want to watch Chicken Little!” I shouted as my hair went up in flames and my fist waved high in the air.

“I want to watch Home Alone III!” my sister screamed back with another pillow flying toward me at the same time.

We were arguing furiously, because the movie we planned to watch wasn’t available and we couldn’t convince each other of the replacement. We yelled, we screamed, to the loudest volume we could to make the other person agree with our own selves.

Obviously, the “conversation” wasn’t going anywhere. My mom finally stepped in to give us a warning.  “Girls, stop the fighting! If you can’t agree with each other, the movie night will be CANCELLED!”

“Noooooo!” both my sister and I cried out desperately at the same time.

Something needed to be done. We stared at each other with mouths closed and eyebrows raised. We need to cool off and figure out something quick.

“I will watch Chicken Little upstairs, and you can, if you want of course, watch Home Alone downstairs. Okay?” I spoke reluctantly.

“Definitely not! I want to watch it with you. That’s the whole point, isn’t it? Can we watch Home Alone today and Chicken Little on another night?” Her voice got softer.

This is not what I have been hoping for. “Home Alone is scary,” I explained quietly.

“Don’t worry, baby. I will sit next to you and hug you if you’re scared.”

I hesitated, but the time was ticking away.

My sister looked up to the clock and sighed, “Okay. Let’s just watch Chicken Little tonight. I hope it won’t be too childish or boring. But promise me that we will watch Home Alone next time.”

I nodded with a big smile, and we quickly disappeared into the basement for the movie.

That night ended up happily. We had so much fun watching the movie together and had an enjoyable time. I think next time I will try watching Home Alone with my sister. It may not be that scary after all.
