Why Give So Little, If You Have So Much

I don’t understand
how they’re so important,
candy, games, TV.
None of that matters,
truly it’s irrelevant
to the topic
of gifts.
If someone handed you some money
and then left forever,
would you really be satisfied?
Even though we don’t always deserve it,
we need love.
We need kindness.
Happiness is not earned
from receiving cool toys
or treats.
If you give
a bit of yourself,
a bit of your time,
even if you only have a moment,
spend that instead.
We are all
worth so much more
than a twenty-dollar bill.
