Rough First Years

Dark colors seem to signify despair,
But would we really be here without them there?
We need drama, passion, because if we didn’t
Caravaggio’s paintings wouldn’t be here this instant.
In his early years, life was rough for him,
For he was orphaned at the age of eleven.
Even though he had rough first years,
He made beautiful paintings
That brought everyone to tears.
