The Dream Rabbit

I lay down on my bed but could not sleep, as the four-armed man in the nightmare last night was hovering over me. Just shadows of a tree. I tried to dismiss the nightmare, but it was stuck in my head.

Then I heard a sound coming from outside. Thump. Thump. Thump. My cat stared hard at the window. What is outside? Is the man really here?

I got up from my bed and looked outside to see a dark figure taller than the crabapple tree in the backyard! Goosebumps were rising on my arms. I hid under my covers immediately and after a few minutes I saw a dark shadow looming over me. I peeked over the covers, whimpering softly.

I saw an enormous gray rabbit in front of me! I recognized the shape from the dark figure I saw before. She rubbed her soft fur against my head, as my shy cat began to purr next to the rabbit. I covered my mouth with a trembling hand, looking at the fluffy giant. I finally mustered my courage to ask why she came to me.

The rabbit just twitched her pink nose in reply. All of a sudden, my eyelids felt too heavy to keep open. I trudged to my bed and fell asleep right away.

In my dream, I followed the rabbit outside. I saw her approaching the four-armed man as she continued to twitch her nose. When she clapped her front paws, the man turned into a big cherry blossom tree! Then the rabbit hopped away into the darkness.

I woke up to the sound of birds chirping. I touched the warm spot where the rabbit was, but it was gone. I looked for her outside. To my surprise, there was a cherry blossom tree in the backyard! As my cat looked at me with a curious look, I realized that the rabbit had come to bring good dreams to me. It was the dream rabbit. Would I ever see her again?
