Unusual Wish

The thing I want most of all
is strange and quite unique
most people would want something else
but it’s this gift that I seek.

It’s not a bag of makeup,
it’s not a bunch of clothes,
it’s not a trip to Disneyland,
really, I don’t have patience for those.

It’s not extra schoolwork,
it’s not cinnamon or spice,
it’s not a stack of brand-new books—
thought those gifts WOULD be nice.

It’s not a tablet or a phone
or coupons for a store.
It’s not muffins or any treat,
it’s something much more.

The thing I really, REALLY want?
It’s unusual, I know.
The thing I dream of, all day long—
IS A GRAND PIANO!
