Nothing is more perfect
than a morning run
by the sea.
Your feet pounding on the sand,
right, left, right, left.
The soft lap of waves landing just close enough
not to get your sneakers wet.

Nothing is more perfect
than the wind playing with your hair,
while gulls cry high
above your head.
Watching the sun slowly creep out
of its hiding place below the horizon.

Nothing is more perfect
Than taking off your shoes,
Dipping your bare toes in the cool saltiness
And feeling the surf play tag
With sunshine on your cheeks.
Looking out across the water
And seeing nothing but blue—
Forever.
