Bee Fright
When I was little, I was scared of bees.
My mom is allergic to them, you see.
If I saw a bee, I would scream and run
And refuse to have more fun in the sun.

A big bee stung me when I was five,
Ouch! It hurt so much, I cried.
My mom quickly put some ice on the spot;
The ice helped the sting from swelling a lot.

Now that I’ve learned more facts on the bee,
You’ll not hear any more complaining from me.
Today I can face a bee without fear,
Though sometimes I jump when I see one that’s near.

Because they make honey, a sweet, sweet food,
I tolerate bees--happy is my mood
As I think of this insect we call a bee
That many times a day I see.

A “social” bee lives in a colony
With many other types of bees.
Some bees just live with their family.
These bees are best known as “solitary.”

Today my bee fright’s a thing of the past.
That first sting probably won’t be my last.
I am apprehensive about my next,
Still, my experience was all for the best.
