The Spider
The spider’s dainty, thin feet skid across the web
as gracefully as an ice skater on clean, new ice.
It slowly strings its web together,
making no sound as it does so.
The quiet night surrounds the spider and its web,
and tiny droplets of dew reflect off it,
making the web seem like a diamond necklace.
The spider works all night,
carefully, slowly,
cautiously.
Until it finally finishes the web,
in the soft glow of the early morning.
