A Chinese Festival of Harmony

The towns in China are turning red for the Spring Festival,
Red lanterns lighting up streets,
Red banners hanging up doors,
Red traditional candies sweetening taste buds.

Families travel for the moment of reunion,
People wish each other a good fortune,
To children it seems like a second Christmas,
Getting new toys, red envelopes of money, and new clothes from elders.

Assorted Chinese snacks on tables,
Colors of clothes dizzy children’s minds,
Arrays of cuisines for three meals,
Glamorous smells fill the towns.

Fireworks and music ignite the night,
Blue, green, red, and every other color shining bright.
People watch gala shows on TV with imaginations taking flight,
Dancers, singers, actors entertain till midnight.

A time of harmony and prosperity is rising.
Friend or foe we all deserve a second chance to come together.
Put all our past behind and start over,
A new year, a new animal, new clothes, new friendships, and a new world of happiness.
