New Poetry Contest: Holiday Tradition

Submitted by: Isabel L., age 13, Princeton, NJ

Quiet Atmosphere

A gentle glow, and quiet sound,
Stained-glass windows, snowy ground,
Children singing, singing round and round
The pews of church, surround.

It is Christmas, and after nightfall,
Ringing serenely, church bells call.
We walk to church, the steeple tall,
The beautiful, decorated sanctuary hall.

The service concluded, the pageant done,
It’s cold outside, but life has won.
Remember, with the rising sun,
Jesus himself will arise as the One.
