Friendship

I look back, and I think
Of all the memories we shared,
Of the echoes of laughter between us,
And of all the moments we had together.

The long summer hours we spent
Sprinting through the dark, endless forest,
Converting simple tree branches
Into fearsome swords of our imaginations.

Those frosty winter days in the mountains,
Sledding, skiing, playing in the snow.
The feeling of adventure
Ever-present, ever-mounting.

What must have been days at the chessboard,
Huddled over a magical army of pieces.
The click-tap! of the chess clock
That I remember so fondly.

Now he is moved away,
To the other side of the world.
But I know I will always dream of
Our reunion.
