The Fire Walker
In a little village in eastern Indonesia lived a young man named Sekar. The village was less than a mile from what was thought to be a dormant volcano. Sekar had the unique talent of being able to walk on fire without burning his feet. Every year during the village festival, he demonstrated his talent and made a good amount of money for his family.
    
One night the villagers were awakened to the sounds of a rumbling volcano. People began fleeing the village with their most cherished belongings. Sekar also collected what he could and with his parents started running away from the volcano.
    
After five minutes, Sekar stopped in his tracks. When he looked back, he saw an elderly couple surrounded by bubbling lava and hot rocks. They were screaming for help. Telling his parents to continue without him, Sekar ran to the elderly couple. He knew he would have to get them out in five minutes, or all of them would be burnt by the hot lava. He ran over the hot rocks without feeling any heat and reached the couple. He lifted the old woman up and carried her over the hot rocks to safety. Then he went back for the man. Once he had made sure both were safe, he sped off to find his parents. When the people from the village reached a safe distance from the volcano, they heard a loud explosion. Luckily this time, all the lava was flowing away from the village. After the volcano subsided and calm returned, the villagers were thankful to find there had been no loss of life.
    
The next day the villagers celebrated Sekar as their hero. His unique ability to walk on fire had saved the elderly couple. The couple was so thankful that they rewarded Sekar with a  gift of one million rupiah (about one thousand dollars). With the money, Sekar took his parents on a wonderful vacation.
