Serena, the Great and Magical Hat!

One day, in the depths of a secret lab (or a hat factory, as one might call it) in London, the best hat in the world was made. It was blue, it had a great and long red feather sticking out of it, and it was also so velvety soft to the touch you could put it on your head and fall right asleep. This was Serena's power.

The day right after Serena was made, she was flown over to America. She was placed in a hat shop called The Awesome Head. Serena was woken up (the plane ride was so comfortable, she'd fallen asleep) by tons of people gawking at her, actually gawking! This frightened Serena greatly, as she had never seen a human before. The tip of her tail quivered even more when she was placed onto somebody's head. But, of course, since Serena's talent was putting people to sleep because she was so soft . . .

Thump! went the man Serena had been placed on. He was fast asleep! Mr. Hat Store Owner (as Serena called him) sighed and placed Serena back on her stand where the many people stood, puzzled, in the streets. So, another person came in, and another, and yet another--but yet they were all put to sleep by Serena's magical powers.

Serena cried one night as she realized she could never be strutted through the town proudly like her brothers and sisters. Until . . .

"Hey! You! Stop crying! Some of us reasonable hats are tryin' to sleep!" The speaker was an ugly brown fedora, ripped at its brim. "Listen, if you want to be on someone's head that badly, go see Mr. Hat Store Owner! He can fix you!" And then he started mumbling about rude glamour girls and what a problem neighbors were.

Since Serena thought this was a good idea, she decided to try it out. So the next day, she was fixed and was strutted proudly through the town like all of her brothers and sisters.
