It's back to school with all the bugs and a magical True Being who just wants to be Normal.
A few bugs may give you the creeps, but insects have also inspired artists the world over--and some have even been turned into art! Read about a school's hunt for the infamous Colorado beetle. Who knew bugs were so important in history and art--or so dangerous?
Are you kind to animals? Not everyone is, and that's why Henry Bergh founded the ASPCA--the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals. What a nice guy! Humans have even helped peregrine falcons live among the skyscrapers of the city.
What would it be like to have a unique magical power? Starchild Wondersmith doesn't know, either--even though he and all his family are True Beings. Seemingly without a magical Talent, he decides to go to a school for Normals. Fitting in isn't easy, but Star is immediately spotted as a prime candidate to join a club--the Losers' Club.
And Susie Annie Hutchins, who's teased at school for her scarred face, discovers with the aid of a silver knight who seems to have walked right out of her brother's book of Worthy Tales, that even though she's not beautiful, she does have beauty in her heart.
