Onerous Octopi
On a hot day in the middle of summer, somehow some big, bulky octopi managed their way through some water pipes and into a huge community pool. I was at the pool that day and was less than happy to see the ugly invertebrates join in the crowd.
Bewildered and frightened they attacked the swimmers. The people made a huge fuss and soon the police came. At first I saw them try using darts on the animals, but it had no effect on them. They seemed to not be harming the people, actually having wrapped them up in their tentacles resembling hugging. They caused much damage to the surrounding area. They had broken tables, stands, and chairs with their strong tentacles.
At this point I was behind the iron fence that surrounds the pool, cowering down in the car. Although I eventually got out of the car for a better view, I am not proud of that moment.
One of the octopi was eventually caught when it attempted to crawl out of the pool while chasing the lifeguard. Then somebody had the idea to release sleeping powder into the pool, but nobody could get close enough to put it in the pool.
Then they tried to get the sleeping powder in through the water pipes, but it never got to the tank. We do not know where it went, but it is reported that one household was especially sleepy sometime after. We only had a little bit of powder left, so we had to think of a foolproof way to get it in.
Finally, they used a helicopter to spread it throughout the pool. Then divers took the sleepy cephalopods and put them in a tank for study. I managed to summon enough courage to help and try to salvage the remaining pride I had left.
Well, a few days after it was announced that the strange attack was caused by how the chlorine in the pool affected the octopi’s brains. It made them violent and frightened, causing them to defend themselves.
