Outskirts of the Galaxyhey Amethyst! i’m really excited to talk to you, because even though we’ve known each other on the CB for a while, i don’t think we’ve ever really spoken one on one? :]
i’m not great at starting chat threads either, but what have you been reading lately? or have you been listening to any new music?

AmethystGuestkindled sunriseYeah, I don’t think we have! I’m super exited to talk to you too :DD
I’ve been reading A Tale of Two Cities – I finished it a few days ago, and regretted it, because it’s incredibly good but also incredibly tragic. Furthermore, I was hoping for Dickensian happiness on the way to the ending, but it’s drama all the way through :/ I’m also rereading The Well-Wishers, by Edward Eager, which is even better than I’d remembered it.
As for music, whee :)I recently discovered “Te Estas Enamorando de Mi,” by Luciano Pereyra, which is quite in the style of other latin pop songs I like, though it’s so nice to have a new one… I’ve also been listening to “Yo Te Quiero Mas” by Ventino, “Hotel California” by Belle Perez, and “I Saw Love” by Forest Blakk. I especially love the last one – it’s so beautiful and simple and sweet and full <3 What about you?

Outskirts of the Galaxyi’m so sorry it took me so long to reply! i wanted to listen to the songs you mentioned first, and i only had the chance today :/
ooh, a tale of two cities! i’ve been meaning to read more dickens – i’ve only read a christmas carol and like half of the old curiosity shop (though i don’t remember any of it, so it doesn’t really count). the well-wishers also sounds fun! i’ll have to check it out. lately, i’ve been really into gothic literature – currently, I’m reading the vampyre by john polidori, and carmilla, another vampire novella, by joseph sheridan le fanu is next on my list. i’m also working my way through a collection of short stories by bram stoker!
i really love the energy of the first three songs you mentioned, especially “hotel california”! and “i saw love” was really beautiful and sweet, like you said. it reminded me a bit of hozier’s music – you might like “july” or “like real people do”? some songs I’ve been listening to are “storm warnings” by florence road, “showbiz” by hayley willams, and “i wanna be your joey ramone” by sleater-kinney!
what hobbies have you been into lately?

AmethystGuestNo worries – I actually postponed writing to a friend a few days ago for the exact same reason…
Oh, I’ve read A Christmas Carol too – it was really good. I love how Dickens can write so vividly; sometimes reading his books is almost like watching a movie. I’d especially recommend The Cricket on the Hearth and David Copperfield :)I’ve actually never read vampire novels, but the ones you mentioned look intriguing! What do you like most about the genre?
You’re right, “July” sounds a lot like “I Saw Love”! Its message also reminds me a bit of “Spring” by Ed Sheeran – the poignant nostalgia for spring/summer. Anyway, I really like it – I was actually just listening to it for the second time :)I like the other songs too, particularly “Showbiz”; it has such a good rhythm and bouncy pop vibe. And “Storm Warnings” has an amazing amount of build-up and controlled tension.
I actually haven’t been exploring hobbies much lately… Reading and writing are still strong on the scene, obviously, and I’ve been into calligraphy for a while. As part of my graphic design class this year I’m actually having a mini-unit on typography, which kind of ties into that. If avid-music-listening counts, that would definitely be added to the list too >:) I also used to do archery occasionally, and it might be fun to brush up on that a bit.
How about you? Are you writing a novel for novel-writing month, and if so, how’s it going? (Aside from beautifully, which is of course because everything you write is amazing <3)

AmethystGuestI wanna do it again~~~Also, no pressure to reply or anything (though I hope you’re feeling better!!), but I’ve actually been listening to “Showbiz” a lot and I love it :)) And it suddenly occured to me – have you ever listened to Vance Joy? I was just listening to “Boardwalk” and it suddenly reminded me so much of you.
