EllesmereGuestit's been a while sorry...
this new, fresh cricket magazine revamp is neat and all, but when i was going through the magazine, i found something–or more like, i didn’t find something.
old cricket is gone.
if you didn’t know, old cricket is the small article that used to be at the end of every issue, and it was about something unique–coconuts, the olympics, airplanes, etc. and it was a vital part of the cricket magazine, having been there since basically the beginning. but now? it’s gone. replaced with some weird comic. this important piece of cricket’s legacy is simply removed for the sake of a “new, expanded cricket”.
bring him back. the rest of the changes are neat and i love them. but removing old cricket is nearly criminal. he needs to come back.on a different note, sorry i haven’t been on here for a while, though i doubt many of you cared too much. i started high school work and driver’s ed and i’m learning sign language and working on the publishing process and… yeah, i’ve just been very busy. i’ll try to pop in every once in a while though!
– lots of love, your long-time reader Ellesmere
(ps–would be nice if this got published. everyone needs to hear about old cricket.)

AdminModeratorEllesmere, our readers’ comments are important to us. I’ve passed yours on to the editors. We all loved “Old Cricket Says.”

my issue hasn’t come yet so I had no idea there was no more Old Cricket Says!! Old Cricket Says was my favorite part of the magazines (that and the Letterbox, of course:) )!! It simply cannot be gone!
@Admins, I’m glad you’ve passed this on to the editors! If you like, could you please pass on the following too?
“Old Cricket Says epitomized everything that was special about Cricket – curiosity, discovery, and good-humor, delivered with the magazine’s own unique whimsy and imagination. Readers have learned so much every month from it, and been intrigued by new and intriguing topics that might never have occurred to them otherwise. Today, in a world where people are increasingly being pressured to fall in line and follow the crowd, more than ever society needs something that can spark learning and enchantment with the world around us. Though Cricket has been expanded to include more educational content, no amount of new articles and topics can replace the engaging Old Cricket Says. Moreover, removing the features that readers love, while changing the magazine to be more generic, may result in fewer subscribers and readers, causing Cricket Media to struggle financially. Anyone can publish an educational magazine, but no one can replace the literary, finely-written, good-quality content that Cricket has brought to so many people over the years. Please strongly consider bringing back the Old Cricket Says, and perhaps also the magazine’s high-quality, primarily literary focus. Thank you!”

AmityGuest:0 I hope they bring back old cricket says. Personally, I liked the old literary magazine more than the revamped version.
And Elles, we all missed you <3 I’m glad you’re back 😀 -

NebraskaHello, I am new to Cricket. I used to be a Muse subscriber, but I love writing and I totally agree with you Cricket folks! I so wish they still had the separate magazines! It made it all feel more special, not just a mishmash of completely different subjects…

I like having more than just stories in the magazine, but I still wish that they hadn’t taken out Old Cricket, it was one of my favourite parts!

AdminModeratorThanks for the thoughtful discussion and feedback, everyone.
We know some of you are missing the old subject-specific magazines. That totally makes sense. Change can feel weird, and we really appreciate you sharing your insights. The new Cricket tries something big: each issue connects different subjects (stories, science, art, history, projects) around shared ideas so you can spot surprising connections. We believe this cross-subject style can bring in more perspectives and spark even more curiosity…but we really want your help to make it awesome.
Tell us what you think (officially!)
Share your feedback in our quick reader survey:
https://cricketmedia.typeform.com/to/rzMn61EUTry reading several full issues over the next few months (not just your usual sections). Notice how pieces connect—like a story + a nonfiction feature + a hands-on activity on a similar idea. Then tell us what worked and what didn’t.
Instead of only “bring back the old,” tell us what would make this version amazing for you. You can help us shape what comes next! Some things to think about:More / less of: (comics, puzzles, true-story features, fiction, interviews, art tutorials, how-tos, experiments)
Balance: What mix of fiction vs. nonfiction feels right?
Connections: What topics/themes should we connect across subjects?
Recurring stuff: Characters, series, columns, challenges you’d love to see every issue?
Make it easier to navigate: Page order, headings, icons, color coding—what would help you find your favorite parts fast?
Hands-on: More activities you can do with household items? Step-by-step visuals?
Length & level: Articles too long/short? Words you want explained in sidebars or glossaries?
Mail-day magic: What would make getting Cricket in the mailbox the best moment of your week? Our editors are reading your posts and the survey responses so we can keep fine-tuning the magazine.
Thanks for helping build a Cricket you can’t wait to read.

SinusoidalGuestI don’t think Faces was integrated well enough; I think it favoured Cobblestone and Cricket over them all; I like the Muse section but, again, the only part that was integrated well was News or Not and Parallel U. I think that ideally, the magazine should either be made longer or seperating them into the seperate magazines again.
