Outskirts of the Galaxyit’s almost November – the month in which some writers challenge themselves to write a whole novel (traditionally 50,000 words, but you can aim for whatever goal you want) in thirty days! is anyone else planning on doing it this year?
this thread can be for talking about your novel, sharing word count goals and milestones, asking for help, giving advice, and anything else! :]

forgotten summer in the midst of autumn:DDD thank you so much for making this thread, pangolin!! I currently have a novel idea brewing, and I’ve written out the basic plot and I have character sheets and everything—basically, I’m much more prepared this time than last!
Okay so quick summary of my plot, it’s a royal court fantasy story, where the main characters are Delyra, a seemingly naive princess who is actually really clever, and her lady in waiting, Kalielle, or Kali for short. Delyra wants to reveal the truth behind the murder of her older sister, Chiara, the former crown princess, and bring the culprit, the duke, to justice, with the help of Kali.
Anyways, I’m super excited to write this since I’m already invested in all my plots and characters (I’ve already drawn some of them), and also I’m excited to hear ideas from anyone else! What are all of your plot ideas?

SeadragonGuestI don’t think I’m going to try to actually write a whole novel within a month this year, but I’d like to start getting back into writing for fifteen minutes every day, which I did over the summer but couldn’t do during the fall because of the Season of Chaos (TM)–swim practice was two hours long since the high school water polo team needed a ridiculous number of lanes, although we were actually getting the same amount of pool time as we usually do.
Anyway, long explanations aside, I’d like to try to get rid of my writer’s block, which is present in nearly all of my stories except one; I will count poetry and essays/ramblings in my journal as part of the fifteen minutes. I may start out with ten and see how it goes.
Thanks to pangolin for this thread, which inspired me to try to do this! -
ThaloriwnGuestI’ve never heard of the “writing a novel” month. I’ll have to write own. I’ve had one in the works for a few months now, I just haven’t made it yet.

A Celestial Sky😀 last day of November! I managed to reach 50k words so I’m pretty happy, though my story’s only about halfway done, so I’ll try to continue to work on it (definitely won’t be as consistent though)
It’s gonna be unlikely that I do this next year since it took out a lot of time from my schedule, though maybe I’ll set a smaller goal, like 10k words or 25k words.
Did anyone else reach their goal? -
SeadragonGuestI, sadly, did not reach my goal of writing every day–I had much more homework than I remember having last year, so often I’d be working until 8:30 or 9pm (late, considering I like to go to bed at 9–I know it doesn’t seem like it since the time-stamper on the CB is two time zones east of me) and too tired to write.
I’m going to keep writing every day as a goal of mine, and maybe make it a New Year’s Resolution. I might try to write a novel in a month sometime, but I think I’ll probably do it in a summer month first. -
