Somewhere in the starsHere’s our chat thread! I was having trouble replying to you on random thoughts (replying to someone’s post is glitchy on my end) so I just went ahead and made it, hope that’s okay.
How has your year been? I don’t think we’ve talked since last school year. I’m almost done with my freshman year of high school, and it’s been going well! I’ve got lots to talk about and I can’t wait to catch up with you.

Outskirts of the Galaxyhello! :D! im very excited to talk with you—i feel like we haven’t spoken in forever :]
my school year has been pretty chaotic, to be honest! i mean, everything’s always chaotic, but. you know what i mean. i took two AP classes this year–AP world history and AP seminar. AP seminar is a research-based class, so there’s a lottt of independent work. we get to choose our own research topics (within parameters), though, so at least all the research is about something im interested in! :] i actually took the AP world exam today, and i have the AP sem exam on friday—after that, things’ll hopefully get a lot less chaotic (but knowing ~life~ that’s just wishful thinking :P) im also taking Latin this year, which i really love! my latin teacher is great.
my favorite class this year has been english (well ofc, i’m a cber :P)! at my school, english classes have different “flavors” if you will—so rather than your standard english 10, you can take a class that covers the same curriculum but has a focus on journalism, or theater, or feminism, for instance. the class i’m taking looks at literature through a psychological lens! so in addition to being an english class, it’s also a beginner psychology class! it’s really fun, and my teacher is wonderful. we do a lot of creative writing exercises, and the essays we write are more like personal reflections. for my final essay for the fall semester, for instance, i got to yap for two pages about one of my favorite artists, Remedios Varo :D! my English class is going on a field trip to a nature preserve tomorrow, actually, so that’s exciting :]
outside of school, i’ve entered a lot of poetry contests, and i’m performing at a poetry festival this july! i’ve also started taking guitar lessons, and i’ve been writing some songs :] i’ve also been drawing a bit more, which is nice. i haven’t been writing a ton of longer stuff—i’ve been busy with school, mostly, and a bit burnt out, so most of the fiction writing i was doing while the CB was down was actually CB stuff, because that’s fun and easier for me :] i’ve been working on my ski lodge, of course, and i’ve done a lot of writing with my AEs! do you have any current writing projects?
anyway, i can keep talking forever, so i’ll cut myself off there XD it seems like you’ve really been enjoying high school, and i’m really glad to hear that! <33 ik you didn’t have the greatest time in middle school, so its really great to see that you’ve been able to explore your interests and find your people. you deserve it <333 i can’t wait to hear about everything that you’ve been up to!!
also, this is kind of random, but a while ago (i think on one of our old chat threads? i can’t remember) you recommended me some Phoneboy songs, and i’ve recently had “What a Coward” on repeat! :] so thank you! :D!

*all the hugs*and this comment is just to say that while i always love talking with you, there’s never any pressure to respond! seriously :] i hope everything is okay with you, and if not, i hope it gets better! *hugs and posivitea*
and uhhhh here’s a couple song recs idk! i hope you like them/haven’t heard them all already :p
– “vampires” by tommy lefroy (i yap about tommy lefroy too much probably but this is one of my favorite songs! – soft rock i think? (im notoriously bad at identifying music genres lol))
– “heavy” by florence road (this band has like four songs rn but they’re all awesome! indie/soft rock again i think)
– “little trouble” by better oblivion community center (I like to describe them as a more upbeat boygenius? kind of? indie rock again i believe)
– “the kids from yesterday” by my chemical romance (ik my chem’s music has a certain reputation but this song’s a lot lighter and poppier imo? it feels very nostalgic and empowering and summery :])okay that is all have a nice day *awkward finger guns*

Somewhere in the starsI’m sorry this took me so long! I meant to respond over the weekend, but some stuff came up. It’s been sort of a rough few days, ahaha…
Thank you for the song recommendations! I will listen and let you know what I think!
Wow, your classes sound amazing. My school doesn’t have that sort of collection of options, but I’ve had a good year, too. English was super easy this year and even a bit dull, but I liked my teacher and some of the books we read. I had a short story of mine published, which was neat. We are learning Greek mythology right now, which I mostly already know, but it’s still fun because I like Greek myths.
History was terrible this year for me because of my teacher. She never grades anything and yells at us randomly, and we hardly learn a thing in her class so people fail tests. Luckily I do well — I got a 100 on my midterm! And there was one project at the very beginning of the year I truly did just love. We studied artists from the Renaissance. I studied Pieter Bruegel and got to explain his art to others. Learning about his work and others from his time was just fascinating! I love art and sometimes wonder if I will be a museum educator when I get older.
The poetry festival sounds amazing! You have always been such a talented poet, and you deserve every bit of the love your work is getting and will be getting at that festival. Tell me how it went! Ooo, guitar sounds fun too. I’ve been meaning to take it up but I’m not sure I have the patience, haha. I have been really into singing this year, which I’ll get to in a second. I’ve also not been writing as many longer projects, but I did write a lot of short stories about my AEs! Our AEs should hang out! Maybe we could rp on AE diaries. I confess I didn’t work on my ski lodge at all while the CB was down… I really need to get back to it. I’m just a bit burnt out, like you said.
Anyway, I’ve done a lot of music this year. I was in a few local audition only choirs, and I got invited to sing in my school’s chamber choir as a freshman which is pretty cool because those are some of the best kids in the school and it’s a very small choir! Next year I’m doing a harder choir. Oh, and I was in the school musical, which was SO much fun! I loved it. I’ve actually got a concept for a musical of my own going in my head, too. I gotta get to writing that… I also did cross country and track. I liked cross country better; running alone in the woods with nothing but my thoughts is really relaxing. And I got into graphic design! I could yap about that forever. I learned so much in that class and made some really awesome stuff — logos, posters, even a zine!
I really do like high school so much better. I’ve made so many friends everywhere and really started to feel, I don’t know, liked by other people? Haha. I never really felt like people liked me in middle school, so it’s just really nice when people are excited to see me or talk to me.
Oh, I’m so happy you like Phoneboy! I get to see them live in a few weeks, and I’m so excited.
Again, sorry I took so long to respond and if I sound a little tired. It’s just been a stressful few weeks; you know how it is. But I love talking to you and can’t wait to hear more about all these amazing things you’ve been doing. <3
