ParticipantPoetry Contest
Well, we haven’t had one of these in a while, have we? Time for a new one, I say! Welcome, resident poets!
The rules are pretty simple. I am the first judge. I will give you a theme, and you must write a poem relating to the theme. Be creative with your interpretations! I will then judge the entries by a set date, and the winner will then be the next judge, and set the next theme. And so on, and so forth.
The first theme will be… *dramatic drumroll*
Stars! Whether you chose to write about the kind of stars you wish on, or the kind that take the stage, I will be eagerly awaiting your sparkly, shiny, beautiful poems. Have them in by… Saturday, March 18. Two weeks. Sound fair?
I hope to see your poems soon!

wandering barefoot in forest greenI’ll just put my (attempt at Emily Dickinson style) poem here again to make it easier (so you don’t have to look at both threads):
To wander barefoot in Forest green –
Truly! Nothing else can compare
To the feeling of grass beneath your feet
And a soft breeze – dancing in the airTo follow a River step by step –
Away from the City and its crowd:
To this day I wonder how they accept
Suffocating in its smoky Shroud
To escape Society and its Glare
And release! From its gilded cage
As a Bird that takes to the air –
Fleeing from the fire and its rageTo follow Raindrops in their race –
Marvel at the Creatures that emerge!
To rest in an Old Oak’s warm embrace
And hum to a mourning dove’s dirgeTo experience the greatest Wonder of all –
When Nature finally grants you Her Gift:
With Animals both great and small
Emerging to play as if you did not existTo wander barefoot in Forest green –
Truly! Nothing else can compare
To the feeling of grass beneath your feet
And a soft breeze – dancing in the air -
