A rustle of leaves, a bark of a dog. The sound of a microwave, the croak of a frog. Everything sounded more… musical, today. As if it were a distinct melody that flowed together. A laugh was one note, a rip of paper was the next. It was odd. But you ignored it for most of the day.
Most of the day.
By the evening, it was impossible to ignore. It was impossible not to feel crazy over nobody else noticing it. So the next melody you heard, you chased it.
It led you on a run. A run into the forest, specifically a part unmarked on any map of the trails. Eventually, you came upon a meadow. A… silent meadow?
Confused and feeling slightly let down, you considered turning around and going home. As you attempted to do so, you snapped a branch. In an instance, a cacophony of music erupted from the world around you! The sounds of animals, nature, and unseen orchestral instruments flooded your ears. There it was! The same melody that’s been teasing you all day. This time, performed… with vocals?
Yes, with vocals! You whipped your head around looking for the singers, but they were nowhere to be seen. Still, the two voices delivered a sweet-sounding piece of opera. There was a singer rich and deep, accompanied by a very high, softer voice. Both were simply angelic!
Quite frankly, the song itself didn’t shed much light on the mystery at hand. It was entirely in Italian. You, uh… Haven’t brushed up on your Italian in a while. To be completely fair, there was no foreseeing this situation.
For whatever reason, you felt compelled to sit through the entire piece. Once it concluded, you clapped rather awkwardly. It was weird to applause ominous voices from what seemed to be a beyond realm.
Unexpectedly, your notes rang out their own small song. On the final clap, you did not feel your other hand. You felt a piece of paper! Looking down, an envelope sat in your grasp. Interestingly enough, a piece of mail addressed to your full name materializing out of nowhere was not the most shocking event of today.

How kind of you to listen to our piece in full! It is a breath of fresh air to come across a young opera enthusiast such as yourself in the modern day. Most bolt after the first measure. How our audiences have abandoned us to enjoy the more modern musical indulgences of life! We are overjoyed to serenade you. It reminds us of the bygone days!
Thank you for granting us hope for our craft. Pray tell, may we appreciate you for this magnificent gift of gratitude you have given us by inviting you to our opera house? We plan to host a week of festivities for those who still enjoy our music! It is a crash course on all things opera. Tours, lessons, and your very own time in the spotlight! Rooming and meals included! Free of charge, of course.
The goal of the workshop is to educate and encourage the guests to create an original opera that will be performed on the last night of the event! To completely immerse you in the life of a performer, please leave your old identity behind and come in an alias and a costume for your stage character! Keep your true self a secret! Everyone will be revealed at the end on the programs handed out to the final opera’s audience.
If you accept our offer, please sing a rendition of your favorite 2000s pop hit in the style of a brief comedic opera. A burletta, if you would like to use the proper terminology. We assure you, we will hear your RSVP and take note of it!

The cool-toned color illustrated the theatre mask of tragedy, a silver crescent adorning the forehead. The peach illustrated the theatre mask of comedy, a pointy golden sun acting as a parallel to the moon. Such detail put into the invitation! Will you accept?

Alias Costume: tight and stretchy golden dress that flares out at the waist and stops mid thigh, red leggings. High heeled black boots that go up to the middle of my lower leg. Dress is long sleeves with a vee neckline. Red and orange flame patterns start around the collar, staying in a vee pattern all the way down the dress middle. Blong wig, long hair but gathered up in a stylish, fancy, messy bun. Sparkly gold eyeshadow winged with scarlet. Lips painted red. The whole thing is ment to draw attention
Appearance: tall and slender, shoulder length brown hair with natural blond streaks. Full lips, hazel eyes with short but thick lashes. Long limbed and shape gaze. Generally dressed in tight jeans or leggings (for silent walking) barefooted in warm weather, simple tennis shoes otherwise. Dark colored shirt and sweater in colder weather.
Personality: kind, helpful, gentle but firm. Clever and open with a smile to everyone while secretly taking everything in
Skills: great with bow and arrow, and staff. Good at disguise and moving silently. Observant. Agile, very flexible. Strong from shooting bow and arrow
Weaknesses: I tend to see the best in everyone and don’t even consider fowl play until it actually happens, dislikes the dark, can be jumpy.
Luggage: a rucksack with notebook, various writing utensils, hunting knife, rope, and a dark cloak
Favorite type of music?: pop, or like 80s music. Love Kpop. I haven’t heard much opera, but when I have… Ahh. So beautiful

Other: I, myself, prefer dark colored clothing and more plain clothes that isn’t very eye catching, but Supernova is the opposite. And I don’t think it’s the typical clothing for an opera. Also, could you be… Peri? -

Black button up shirt, high ruffled collar, billowed sleeves with lace on the ends,leather corset under neath a black velvet vest, embossed with Victorian flower patterns, Long black pants flared at the knee, corset loops up the side, laced with black ribbon, black studded belt, bat shaped belt, multiple black cuff bracelets, platform lace up (black) boots, large, silver moon shaped earings.
Appearance:Long shaggy black hair, cut into a wolf cut/mullet, heavy lidded eyes, black irises, fangs, tall, lean, fair skinned, symbols of the greek gods tattooed down the side of their right arm, tattoo of a wreath of sunflowers and hyacinths on their left bicep. Usually dresses in masc military/Victorian goth.
Personality:Quiet, cold, very passionate about their hobbies, a little bit spacey, contemplative, angers quickly, uses long words, and considers conformity the ugliest action.
Skills:Painting, Drawing, dancing, really good a being quiet, moves around quickly, working with animals.

Appearance: dark slightly wavy jet black hair that flows down below shoulders, dark brown almost black eyes, typically wearing a moon pendant necklace and a comfortable light purple jacket, white top, and jeans with sneakers
Personality: INFJ, creative, kind, prefers listening over talking, but open and eager with friends, thoughtful, smart, a bookworm
Skills: piano, writing stories and poetry, reading, playing guitar (and ukulele recently!), some drawing, intelligence

Why did you listen to Celia & Bel’s whole song?: the way everything coincided together and moved with nature was so beautiful and wonderful that I just had to keep listening. Also, it was just really pretty

Alias Costume: A long, slightly low-cut blue dress, with a ruffle around the neckline, a high waist, and lots of sparkles all over. Silver heels and eye shadow, and cranberry lipstick. And a silver clip in her hair. Sometimes she wears a shimmering silver cloak over all this.
Appearance: Long dark hair (waist length) and pale skin. Dark blue eyes. Small for her age and slim.
Personality: Quiet and shy, intelligent, witty when you get to know her. Before you get to know her, she seems kind of aloof. She’s a bit of a pessimist.
Skills: Singing, making jewelry, reading. She’s very perceptive.
Weaknesses: Scared of what people will think of her and indecisive.
Luggage: A large, old-fashioned blue suitcase, containing some jewelry-making supplies, her iPod, and lots of books.

Alias Costume: A long lighter-red velvet cape and a cranberry dress to her knees, with buttons down the front of the top, which is cut like a T-shirt in terms of neckline and sleeves. Black leggings and shiny brown vegan-leather ankle boots with heels. She wears several gold bangles on her left arm.
Appearance: Dark-red hair, which she’s recently cut into a bob. Green eyes and pale skin (she’s a bit tanner than Izzy, though.) Freckles across the bridge of her nose and on her cheekbones. Tall for her age.
Personality: Outgoing and cheerful. A bit obtuse sometimes, but still smart. She’s also very passionate about things, has extremely strong morals, and likes to get into arguments. She has lots of ideas.
Skills: Cooking, debates, swimming, violin and fiddle playing (same instrument, different styles, of which she does both).
Weaknesses: She’s obtuse, although she usually laughs it off. She is also impulsive.
Luggage: A red rolling suitcase containing books, note- and sketch- books, her violin, and her and Izzy’s cat and accompanying equipment. (Unless you don’t want there to be pets. She is the type to bring in a cat even if it’s against the rules.)
Favorite type of music?: Songs from musicals, bluegrass, and folk.
