City of Eternal RomanceJust popping on here to say that it turns out that greenhouse gas emissions are now, for the first time ever, going down!! Only by a tiny bit, but still, it shows that good things are possible! It’s just so important to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and try to save the planet, because every tiny bit counts – and now, thanks to the efforts of people who really do care, there’s been a fundamental change in society’s horrible pattern of exploiting the earth, and it is just wonderful.
The problem now is that AI uses up such enormous amounts of electricity, generally for silly purposes, so now society’s got to get around to refusing to use AI… However, that should be simple enough. I was reading a hilarious article in Writer’s Digest magazine – it really satirized AI. It was a good sign because if everyone sees that AI is no good, then maybe they’ll refuse to use it, and then all its problems won’t happen in the first place.
Has anyone heard the song “Les enfants du monde” by Erza Muqoli? It’s about combating climate change and it has a very nice video, if anyone’s interested in seeing it.
Also happy fall break to everyone!

SinusoidalGuestYayyyyyyy!
Also it looks like the countries with a lot of oil (think UAE) are getting into other industries (think Space) and don’t need that much oil anymore. (Yes the UAE has a space program and I think they went to the moon recently) And if Project Orion gets rebuilt, but only for interplanetary transfers (Project orion is basically blasting yourself into space with nukes) then we could also get rid of the nukes and it is a better solution than “shoot them into the sun”. (Is this a ridiculous plan? Yes. Just bury them, that’s what we do with toxic waste right now anyway) Also, I have a map at home of what countries have more than 50% of their energy clean energy. They include Paraguay, Uruguay, Iceland (I think!) A lot of the african countries, Bhutan (Bhutan doesn’t use that much electricity so I don’t know how much that matters), etc.
But yay really good news!
My hope is that the future generations might remember 2010-2030 as the “Great Depression of the planet” and that we eventually got out of it. And with some other things happening in the world, I’m much more optimistic about the future of our species, and our planet, then many people were a year ago.
(I do support colonising the Moon but not as a Planet B, but more of an overflow planet once the Earth has too many people to sustain them all; I think we’ll figure out such a solution before we get to the point of overpopulation, but right now the main problem is actually distribution)
And also, maybe instead of wood and cutting down trees we can use BAMBOO! Bamboo grows really fast, some types are as strong as steel and have ridiculous structural integrity. Part of me wants to build a spaceship/sattelite out of bamboo.
