They think that grandfather is strange and they don't want to talk to him. In this book, Calpurnia befriends Grandfather and becomes a naturalist too, and works wiht her grandfather on experiments. You will see how this changes Calpurnia.

I loved this
book!! One of my faves, totally. It really captured the life of an 11/12 year old girl in that time period. I thoroughly enjoyed it and I encourage EVERYONE who reads this to read the book.
