Uh, "challenging"? *coughs* Well, I guess one could say that... it was really challenging for me not to start ripping the book up as I read it.

Sorry, but no, I was not impressed with Smeyer's work. If you were- then, well, that's your opinion, and I respect that. But honestly, what was so appealing about them?

I haven't  read it, and I don't really want to! I think vampires are scary, and I guess this book would give me nightmares, even though my friends say it's not scary.Kiss

Um, guys (girls, I guess)? Haven't we like, taken this discussion as far as it can go? Every time I go on there's a new Twilight thread, and it's getting kind of annoying.

Y'know, Lena, you're quite right (but I think Meredith is new, so she probably didn't know). But it is a mite annoying. Still, though, it's nice to see any *active* thread on CriReaRec, don't you think?

Good point. :) Yes, CriReaRec (great abbreviation, by the way!) is so infrequently used, it is nice to see some threads on here. And I can't blame a newcomer. Welcome, Meredith! :)

@ Rebecca- Depends on what you find scary. Like, if you think that these statistics, concerning how many times in the first book ALONE Bella describes Edward, are scary, then definitely not the book for you.

Face: 24
Voice: 20
Eyes: 17
Movement: 11
Smile: 10
Teeth: 8
Muscles: 7
Skin: 7 (Note: This only contains accounts of Edward's skin being beautiful. I didn't count references to it as "pale," "cold," or "white." If I had, this number would be about ten times larger.)
Iron Strength or Limbs: 5
Breath: 4
Scent: 4
Laughter: 3
Chest: 2
Altogether: 122 times in the first book alone

However, if you're okay with, say, the word "murmur" being used 46 times in just one book, then you should definitely enjoy these books. :/

Point being, Rebecca, they're not scary as in *gore* scary, and the only thing you'd have nightmares about is how many times Bella describes Edward as an "angel" (84, if anyone cares, which is unlikely).

No offense meant to anyone.
