Inkheart

by Cornelia Funke

Inkheart is a book about Mortimer 'Mo' Folchart, a bookbinder, and his bookwormish daughter Meggie. They're constantly moving house, and Meggie believes that this is due to Mo's job until a mysterious figure appears in the night and tells Mo that someone named Capricorn is after something of Mo's. They go to Meggie's great aunt Eleanor's manor and spend their days there until men show up in the night and capture Mo. Meggie goes on a quest to find her father and gets caught up in a story to beat any she's ever read, and she's read a fair few.

Inkheart is filled with morals, but in such a non-preachy way that you enjoy the book, rather than feeling taught. A must-read! (Not trying to sound like a reporter, I just honestly think it's a book you've got to read).
