Ruthie has just moved from Cuba to New York. She has just been promoted to "The Smart Class". But the day before she gets to be in the smart class, she gets into a terrible accident. Her right leg is broken. Later she gets put into a body cast. It's a rather sad story, but it has it's happy parts.
