Mary, Bloody Mary

by Carolyn Meyer

Princess Mary always used to be treated kindly with love by her father, who proudly claimed to all that his daughter was the pearl of all England.  That is, he did so until he met Anne Boleyn.  Soon, her father divorces the queen to marry his lover, and Mary is stripped of her title and sent away to live all by herself; until, of course, he calls her back to be the servant of her new baby stepsister Elizabeth, who will inherit the throne that's rightfully Mary's.  This dramatic story is especially good if you like a somewhat depressing read.  Which I do.  It took me about a week to read.  It's followed by Beware Princess Elizabeth, Doomed Queen Anne, and Patience Princess Catherine, all of which are my favorite books.

Oh, I just read this for school! It was really good! I have Doomed Queen Anne out from the library right now, but I haven't read it yet. Why did it take you so long to read?

I liked Mary, Bloody Mary better than Doomed Queen Anne. I think I'll read Beware, Princess Elizabeth next.

Bryne, Beware Princess Elizabeth makes you see things from a whole different perspective. It is interesting, especialy as I read Beware Princess Elizabeth, I have never read Doomed Queen Anne. What is it like? (I'll probably never read it as my book recorces are limited.)

Doomed Queen Anne is more of a depressing romance.  Ehh, not that romantic, like she didn't really love Henry, she just wanted the crown.  It's good, though.

I've read Doomed Queen Anne. I got it at a book fair.

BTW, the order goes: Mary Bloody Mary, Beware Princess Elizabeth, Doomed Queen Anne, and then Patience Princess Catherine.  Chronilogically, that wouldn't make sense at all, but if you read it in order, it really builds on how you feel about certain characters, and helps you realize that everyone has good and bad sides.
