Fairest

by Gail Carson Levine

Fairest is one of my favorite books. It tells the story of a young woman named Aza, who, though her voice could charm rocks, is very ugly in appearance.  When Aza is  assigned to serve the queen as a lady in waiting, Aza finds adventure, spells, songs, and even romance. Filled with ogres, gnomes, and the queen's wrath, this book captures the readers.  Fairest is definitely a 'must read' for tweens and teens.
