The Red Necklace

by Sally Gardener

This is an amazing book.  I simply LOVED it.

Yan doesn't know who his parents are, or even if they're still alive.  He was raised by Tetu, who he has always thought of as his father.  His only home is the theatres of Paris, where he uses his talents to work as an actor.  Still, he is contented with with his life. Until one day everything changes...
Sidone is used to her father hating her.  After all, she knows no other way.  It's always been like that.  Yet she doesn't know why.
So when she finally gets an opportunity to impress him, she takes it willingly.  She even gets to stay at his mansion!
But her father hates her same as he always has, and she has to stay in the Servant's Quarters.  There's something strange and twisted about this visit...
The French Revolution is not far away.  And neither is Count Kaliovzki...
A magician is murdered.  His death goes unnoticed to all but two...  And changes their lives forever...
Suspense.  History.  Romance.  Mystery.  Adventure.  Magic.  It's all here.  I REALLY recommend this book.
WARNING:  VERY INTENSE.  Not for amateurs.  I cried my eyes out.

Yay!!  I thought it was so sad and romantic...  Especially the end...  Sally Gardener wrote I, Coriander, too, but I think this one is better.
