Story Contest: Mummies

There are millions of mummies in this issue! (Well, not that many, but a lot.) So for the March contest, everybuggy is dying to read your best story featuring a mummy. Muffin suggested that this month’s Cricket cover would be a great place to find inspiration. You might begin by taking a long look at the scene on the cover and asking yourself, who is the mummy in the opened case? A powerful pharaoh? A member of a prominent family? How did he or she live--and die? Is a priest in a jackal headdress attending the mummy, or the god Anubis himself? Why is the case partly open? And what mysteries might be hidden in the hieroglyphic writing on the walls?

Will you set your story in ancient times? Or imagine modern archaeologists entering a lost tomb and making an amazing discovery? There are millions of possibilities, and the choice is yours. Just send us your best mummy story--350 words or less--inspired by our cover. Everybuggy is climbing the walls with excitement, eager to learn what the hieroglyphs might reveal about their Egyptian ancestors.
