"Oh, it's you, Penny," Charlotte said.
"Oh, that's where I am," I said, "Is the meeting today?"
"Meeting…" everyone murmured.
"Yeah, the powers of the universe want us together or whatever to finish our parents' legacy," I said. They looked at me, wondering how I knew this.
"Penny, they don't understand everything yet," Charlotte whispered, then said louder, directed at everyone else, "I have a psychic gift. I've come across Penny before in my travels and we became friends, so I told her in advance that I believed this would happen."
"So you didn't call us here?" one of the other Travelers asked.
"That was not my doing. The universe works in mysterious ways," Charlotte replied.

Our parents legacy? Powers? Charlotte was psychic? This was all too much for me. I secretly wished that I was standing in the kitchen of our house with mom lecturing me about the importance for biology for my future and life in general while she attempted to cook something that would end up in the trash. Why me? Why had my dad never even hinted the traveling thing? Didn't I deserve to know?
As if she had read my mind, Charlotte's soft brown eyes turned to me. "Don't you worry, young man. Your father would have told you if you had survived. You see, if your travelling parent had told you the secret before you started travelling, bad things could have happened."
"You could have died." Penny, the girl dressed like she'd jumped out of a 50s sock hop, added cheerfully.
"Travelling begins between the ages of 15 and 18. I bet that most of you are in this age range, although there have been some late bloomers. Da Vinci, to name one."
Alyss-Mae let out a startled gasp. "Da Vinci? Da Vinci could travel?"
"How else could he have known about the airplane? He sketched something like an airplane during his time. You see, some travellers are gifted enough to go into the future." Charlotte explained paitiently.
"Can we travel into the future?" I blurted out. The idea of seeing my future was exciting, if a little nerveracking.
"You don't know yet. This is your first time travelling, right? And you travelled into the past, which means that you probably aren't a Future-Traveller. But who knows." Penny answered.
I noticed Kiari's forehead wrinkle into a bunch of little creases. "But what's this Legacy?" She asked.

Not sure...Kiari ~
I was pretty sure then I qualified as an early bloomer, since I was ony fourteen, and had also traveled once before when I was even younger. But there was something else that bothered me even more.
"But what's this Legacy?" I asked.
Miss Charlotte smiled again. "Aside from just maintaining peace, your parents were working on a specific mission. Someone has been discreetly making small disturbances in different worlds. But they're becoming more drastic and noticeable all the time. The young woman who was murdered, Isabella, was their most recent and drastic move yet. It was a direct attack on us. Your parents went to try to solve and stop it. None have returned, so now this mission falls to you. You have to find this murderer." She said this last part with dead seriousness. We all looked at each other. But something else Charlotte said caught my attention.
"You said 'haven't returned.' I take it you don't know where or how they are. Does that mean they're not necessarily dead?" I asked. Miss Charlotte was slow to answer. "Yes… but I wouldn't get your hopes up. If they've been gone this long with no word, I can only assume the worst."
I thought back to the sheet of paper I'd seen with all our names on it. I couldn't help but feel a little hopeful.
"Now," Miss Charlotte said, rising. "It's time you continued with your search. I suggest you start here. This is the last known place your parents searched." She handed Alyss-Mae a slip of paper.

As soon as Charlotte handed Alyss-Mae the slip of paper the air started to shimmer as if I was in a desert instead of a vintage living room. Before I could make a noise, I had fallen onto our doorstep, my backpack sitting neatly next to me and my tailbone aching from the slightly ungraceful landing.
Had I actually fallen asleep on the doorstep? Had I dreamed all of it? Was I actually that creative? Part of me felt happy that it wasn't real but I was mostly disappointed. The idea that my father was stuck in time with a possible chance of me finding him had been a relief. There's no such thing as magic.

I woke in the middle of the night, my stomach grumbling from not eating dinner. My mom had started ranting at me as soon as I handed her my test so I had avoided her for the rest of the night.
Now, I stood up and crept downstairs, yearning for a club sandwich piled high with all things possible. I had just grabbed some toast from the pantry when I felt the dizzy feeling from the first time I travelled. I dropped the toast as I flew higher and higher – so high that I should have slammed into the ceiling or even the roof. Seconds later I plowed into a thick pile of hay, right next to a slightly

In the blink of an eye, I was suddenly back home, lying outside the ginseng patch Locker and I had discovered.
"What the heck happened to you?" he demanded, bending over me. I blinked, wondering if I'd died and not quite made it to Heaven. He helped me sit up.
"Uhh, I'm not sure," I answered, rubbing my head. "I guess…" Everything that had happened couldn't have been a dream, it wasn't possible.
"I fell," I covered. "I guess I hit my head harder than I thought." Locker smirked.
"Come on, we've got to get the rest of this patch in by nightfall." I stood up, brushing myself off. I gathered up the roots, and stumbled back home with Locker. I started up the steps to my house, but I stopped to look at the fading light as the sky turned to night.
Suddenly I felt a huge rush… and I wasn't on the steps anymore. I sat up in a stack of hay, trying to figure out where I was. Suddenly Samu appeared next to a very disheveled me. I stopped pulling hey out of my hair and looked at him.
"Hi."

NeverlandSorry I took so long!
Alyss-Mae~
Charlotte gave me the paper, and I knew I was traveling. The sky turned purple and it threw me up to it. I passed through a portal, and landed in a burning hot place ( Blue fairy note: the location is A really hot place). The sun was beating down on me, and i instantly yearned for water.
"Alyss-Mae, welcome to this place. I hope you enjoy the heat. You will be staying here awhile," said a booming voice from thin air.
I was about to reply when I heard a familiar voice say "Alyss-Mae! Hi!" I turned around and saw Kiari walking toward me, pulling hair out of her hair.
"Hi!" I said and walked up to her and hugged her, knowing I'm not alone.
"Hi Alyss," said Samu, who came up behind Kiari.
"Hey Samu," I said, and we all did a group hug.
"Alyss, do you know where we are?" Kiari asked, hay still in her hair.
"No, just that I….I am…Hot and…..thirsty" I said, and fell to my knees.
"Alyss, what's wrong?" Asked Samu.
"Just-" I started, but fainted from dehydration.

Not sure...Kiari ~
"Hi," Samu replied, looking around. "Where…, oh never mind. We'll find out soon enough." We climbed down the hay stack, looking around. We stood in an immense bar, like the size of a warehouse. Animal stalls lined both sides, but there were no animals to be seen. We walked outside, the sun searing down on us. I could instantly feel it warming my skin. We wandered out a ways, looking for any of the others. Suddenly I spotted a lone figure which I instantly recognized as…
"Alyss-Mae!" I called, walking up. She seemed grateful to see others here too. After hugs were exchanged, I asked her if she knew where we were.
"No, just that I….I am…Hot and…..thirsty," she said, and fell to her knees.
"Alyss, what's wrong?" Samu asked. She started to reply, but passed out before she could finish.
"The sun," I said, feeling her forehead which was covered in sweat. "We need to move her, back to the barn." Samu gripped her arms, while I grabbed her legs, and we managed to carry her into the barn, leaning her against a stack of hay.
"We need water," I muttered. I too was starting to get warm to a dizzying point. But I was determined not to pass out. I gripped a handful of hay. It was relatively fresh. Which meant if this place had hay, they grew it. Which meant water. I stood up, looking around. I moved to the door, gazing out across the plain. Finally, my eyes rested on the silhouette of…
"A well!" I said excitedly. I turned and grabbed a bucket out of one of the empty stalls.
"Be careful," Samu cautioned as I headed toward the door. "Alyss-Mae was only out there a few minutes, and became dehydrated." I nodded, and hurried out.
The distance was farther than I'd first thought. When I finally reached it, my skin felt like it was on fire. I tied the bucket to the rope, and turned the crank to lower it.
"How does anyone live here?" I wondered aloud and I cranked. Finally, I had the bucket back up, filled with cool clear water. I picked it up, wondering at it's heaviness. I lugged it back across the field, into the barn. I placed it on the ground and fell to my knees panting.
"I wonder where the others are," I said quietly as Samu revived Alyss and got her to drink.

Kiari's question was answered shortly after when Lara and Zira landed in different places in the barn. Alyss-Mae woke up seconds later, parched and still a little dazed from the sun but healthy enough.
"We're in a desert," said Zira, in such a way that I couldn't tell if it was a question or a statement.
"Don't stay out in the sun too long. It knocked Alyss-Mae out in just minutes." Kiari said, coming out from behind a hay bail.
"But if it's too hot to go out, how are we supposed to get out of here?" Zira asked.
"I think I have the answer to that." Penelope, who until that moment I'd forgotten about, was standing near the entrance to the barn. Her straight hair in a ponytail and dressed in a flouncy polka-dot dress.

Kiari ~
I glanced up at Penelope, who was still dressed like she was still going to a party in 1952. She walked over to the side of the barn, and kicked away some hay. We moved closer, to discover a door in the floor. She bent down, trying to pry it up, though it was stuck fast. Even when Samu and I tried helping, it still wouldn't budge.
"How about this?" Lara offered, holding a pitchfork that had been hanging on the wall along with several other tools. We shoved it as far beneath the door as we could get it to go, then Samu, Penelope and I each pulled together on its long handle. After several minutes, and I did a great deal of mental swearing, then flung open, sending us crashing against the floor.
"Oh great, well that worked," I said, sitting up. Samu helped me up, and we stared into the down the door. Below, a long tunnel stretched in either direction. It would have been pitch black if not for the lanterns hanging at periodic intervals, casting warm pools of light.
"Well, what are we waiting for?" Penelope asked, and jumped down. I jumped down next, followed by Zira, Samu, and Lara.
"Which way?" Zira asked.
