I send my sight a bit ahead of me and see something through the trees- a girl with a black highlight. I move towards her.
-
Carolion KParticipantYay this time setting is pefect for me! Okay, so Emma was adopted by a rich, widdowed barrones.
~Emma~
I walk silently down the steps to where Mother sits in the parlor, sipping coffee. I curtsy, hampered by the fact that I'm not wearing a dress, but my posture is correct somehow. My posture has always been correct. Lissy even jokes that I was born sitting up straight. Now that it's summertime, I shall not see Lissy very often, which is dissapointing.
Mother returns my curtsey with a small nod and I take a seat next to her on the canapè. Lissy always tells me I live such a formal life, but it feels right to me somehow. Reminds me of something. I shurg away the thought and turn to the window, where our house overlooks the other houses and the forge. I sigh as I think of the one thing every girl my age is talking about, the one thing I won't be able to attend.
"What is it, darling?" Mother asks, frowning.
"Mother, there is the most wonderful concert coming up, and after the performance there will be an open talent presentation, and oh, I do so love singing, and it would be so wonderful if I could-"
"What time does it end?" she asks flatly.
"11:00," I say quietly.
"That is one hour past your curfew."
"But absouletely all of my friends are going!"
"Well, I am not all of your friend's mother.""But MOTHER!"
"Go to your room, Emma. I have raised you to have the manners of a princess and here you are, acting very un-princesslike." The insult stings for some reason, stings very much. But I obey, knowing that I have failed her, knowing that I had not a chance anyways.

HogwartsCan I please be a Pageborn? Please?
Here are my ten reasons:
1. I am new to CB and would like to be included in something.
2. I love to write and will add on all the time to make it more intresting and to keep the RP going.
3. I will bless you with eternal awesomeness if you let me in.
4. Here, have some more delicous virtual ice cream! It comes in ten different flavors: vanilla; strawberry; chocalate; mint chocolate chip; cotton candy; cookie dough; moose tracks; peanut butter crunch; rocky road and blueberry. You can also have soft serve in any of those flavors or a frappe!
5. I'll try not to be too bossy.
6. I'll obey all your rules.
7. Want some virtual pizza?
8. My awesomeness is astounding. I'd be suprised if you wern't begging me on your knees to join by this point.
9. I'll be your best CB friend.
10. I would love it if you let me join.
-
Hermione Granger Participant10
HogwartsAnd I have an extra reason for you to let me join. I have a consecuence for falling in love! Here it is:
If they fall in love, maybe their love would be killed with them watching and they would be helpless to stop it!
How do like that?
-
BrookeiraParticipantSorry, Hermoine, no.
Also, Quinn's person, Lenore doesn't know that Lu is following her and the boy who Lenore knocked down is Ben (y'know, forest is kind of his habitat.).

Shadow DragonParticipantAlexandra was adopted by two very ordinary people.
Alexandra~
Mom and Dad are on another business trip. Without me. Again. "Alexandra," said Mom, before they left, "you're fifften. You can take care of the house and Adirr without us."
Adirr is my half-wolf Artic sled dog. He really loves me.
"Fine," l had grumbled and then they left. l watch the car until it is out of sight, then go to the yard to walk Adirr.
"C'mon boy," l call to him, opening the gate. Adirr dashes out and we run to the forest.
Once in it, l close my eyes and concentrate. l slowly count to ten, and open my eyes, as a wolf. Adirr is the only one who knows of my powers. (Brookeira, l know you said if they reveal their secret they die, but could there be a an exception in the case of a dog? Please? It wouldn't affect or change anything in the story.)
Adirr is delighted. We run and play for the good part of a hour when l smell humans. l tell Adirr that we must go back, but he wants to find out who they are.
l consent to Adirr's idea reluctantly and shoulder to shoulder, we follow the scent, to a clearing, where two girls and a boy are.
One of them suddenly jerks in suprise. "There is a wolf and a dog very close here," she tells the others. They mean us. l tell Adirr.
Suddenly l am lifted from the ground by an invislble force. Adirr dashes from the forest, growling. In five seconds l have changed to human, but Adirr is faster. He attacks the girl with blonde hair, biting her leg.
"Adirr! Down!" l yell, as the invisible force drops me. He obeys, still growling, to my side.
The three glare at me. "Don't try anything," l growl, "or l will tell my wolf-dog to tear you to pieces." Adirr bares his fangs, as if to emphasize to point.
-
BrookeiraParticipant"Who are you?" I ask her, putting two-and-two together as I look at the confused boy, the confused girl, and the wolf-dog-owner girl's black highlights.
"No concern of yours," she says, straightening up. It's all I need. I lunge and tackle her (untelekinetically) to the ground, she yelps, and her dog is thrown back by an invisible force. I snatch under her shirt and uncover a locket. Not just any locket.
I let go and straighten up myself; the boy (is he Ben? Yes, Ben,) and the girl (doesn't her name start with an L? Lu, I believe) are shocked. They slowly produce lockets of their own.
The girl gasps and growls; an actual, inhuman growl.
(OOC: Pageborns can reveal their secret to each other and non-humans.)
"Wait," I say, readying myself to say what I'm about to say. "Who are you?"
"Ben," the boy says. I suddenly feel lighter. That must be one of his powers.
"Lu," the girl says.
"I'm Lenore," I say, and I have to tell you something."
The dog-wolf owner growls again. "And what's your-"
"ADIRR! SIC HER!"
The girl growls and morphs–right before my eyes– into the most terrifying wolf I've seen in my life.
I fling the dog away again, but the wolf tackles me to the ground and things start to go dark…

I lean against the hard stone wall and slide down into a sitting position. My muscles ache and my feet want to fall off. I would rest more, but there isn't much for a lunch break, so I open my lunch bag and take out a sandwich. I slowly lift up the sandwich to my mouth and take a great big chomp. I chew slowly while resting the sandwich on my lap.
I stand up with a grumble and hustle to put my bag away. I turn and head back to the forge, my lungs seemingly unwilling to breath the smoky, metallic fumes. I sigh and grab my hammer. Now that the break was over the forge's strange silence was filled by the usual clangs and an occasional order from Da. Sometimes even a pained cry from some unfortunate worker. I step up to my anvil and stare at the lumpy piece of metal. Don't get me wrong, I love blacksmithing, but only when I can create my own works. Not fill orders. I grab the hammer with my other hand and grip the handle whil starting to lift it up. Then I let it fall. A weak pang resonates from it and I sigh. Then, with more determination, I lift the hammer and instead of letting it fall I swing. A loud clang pierces my ears and I grimace. What a life…

l back off as the girl goes limp. "What did you do to her?" gasps the other girl, Lu.
Back in human form, l reply, "l didn't do anything. l think she fainted from shock." l can tell that they don't believe me. Adirr comes limping to my side, whining. l softly pet him.
Ben produces a bottle of water from somewhere, and splashs it on Lenore's face. In a little bit, she wakes up. She starts at the sight of me.
"Wait," l hold out my hand in a gesture of friendship. "l do not wish to be your ememy. l wish to be your friend." She doesn't trust me any more then when she first saw me. l can tell.
"If you are a friend, then why did you attack me?" says Lenore, trying to keep the anger out of her voice.
"Because l was attacked first. It was only natural that l defend myself."
"Yeah right," mutters Ben. l ignore him. "And what was this something you had to tell us?"

I send my sense of smell out a bit and move my sight in front of me. I examine them. There's a girl with startling deep green eyes, emerald green eyes, pale skin, blonde hair with a black highlight. Her high cheekbones highlight the angular otherness about her- an otherness that somehow makes me connect to her. The boy has a wildness about him, a kind of happy but wild aura. He has white hair, even though he looks to be about my age. It has one long black streak in it, that seems to emphasize the differentce between him and a Regular. He's dressed in a red-green shirt and dirty jeans. On his belt is a silver sheath, with a dagger-hilt protruding from it. I see a chain stirring around his neck and start to send my sight out toward it but then my smell tells me a wolf and a dog are near. I tell the other two. Green Eyes Girl sees the wolf and uses her power to grab it. A dog races from the forest, trying to bite her leg. The wolf shivers and shudders, quickly morphing into a girl.
"Adirr! Down!" Wolf-Girl shouts, falling to the ground.
I reel my sight back in to join the others in glaring at her. "Don't try anything," Wolf-Girl growls, "or l will tell my wolf-dog to tear you to pieces." The dog bares his teeth. Wolf-dog? No, just a dog. Maybe a fierce one, but long removed from wolf. And who is this girl, who thinks she can take on three Unregulars, Irregulars, Pageborns? And then I see the black streak.
"Who are you?" Green Eyes Girl asks Wolf-Girl.
"No concern of yours," Wolf-Girl says, straightening up. I see Green Eyes Girl tense up and tackle her. She rolls on the ground, using her power to throw back her dog. Green Eyes Girl grabs something from under her shirt. I send my sight out a bit and see it is a locket- but not a regular one, and I know she is one of us. I snatch under her shirt and uncover a locket. Not just any locket. Instinctivly I pull out my own and stare at the others; theirs are elaborate with special carvings and jewels; mine is simple and as I run my fingers over it there is not the reassuring tingle my locket usually gives off.
"Who are you?" Green Eyes Girl says again.
"Ben," White-Hair Boy says, calmly.
"Lu," I introduce myself, sending my hearing skittering right up over to Wolf-Girl and her dog.
"I'm Lenore," Green-Eyes Girl says, "and I have to tell you something."
Wolf-Girl growls again. "And what's your-"
"ADIRR! SIC HER!"
And Wolf-Girl is no longer Wolf-Girl, just wolf, and a terrifying one at that. She tackles Lenore, whose head lolls like she's fainting. I walk over to Wolf-Girl on silent feet and yank her off Lenore. "Lenore?"
-
Awesome...ParticipantIdeaaaa!!!Wait…so what if one of the pageborn's chains broke and they went to the forge to get it fixed by the guy who works there?
-
BrookeiraParticipant(GUYS, I figured out the punishment for being in love!
Pageborns will be sent to a dystopian timeline where their love will be taken, killed, or won't remember them. Okay?)
I jump up and run to the Wolf-girl. It's as I feared-the tussle made her chain snap.
"No!" I yell, shoving the locket into her hands and surveying the chain damage. It's split, alright. We'll have to take it to a blacksmith.
"What's the big deal?" Wolf grumbles.
"Quiet!" I say, "listen… have you ever been able to do anything odd?"
Their faces betray them.
"One: Don't tell anyone. Two: DO NOT remove your locket and THREE: Never, ever fall in love."
"Why?" asks Lu.
"It's a whole lot worse than dying."
Wolfy looks faint. I rush over and help her stand.
"We need to get this girl to the blacksmith!" I yell, "grab an arm!"
The two kids stand frozen.
"GRAB ONE!"
They rush and grab her arms; I grunt and hoist her legs.
"Into town. Fast," I say.
-
Katydid ParticipantQuinn~
I stare at the trio of girls and one guy. One of them looking faint and being carried by the others. I stare and also a few other workers. I happen to be the closest. The two walking people lay the pale-faced girl against the wall and come up to me. I fare at them and a girl with shocking green eyes hands me a pocket and chain. It shocks me and I wince. "Fix it," the girl says.
I look closely at the chain and realize where it's broken and that the clasp is missing. "I can't make clasps very quickly. It would take at lest a day."
"Then don't make a clasp!!"
"How will she wear it then?"
"Just put it around her neck and melt it together!" the boy chimes in.
"Then she can't take it off?" I raise my eyebrow.
"Exactly!" they shout in unison.
"Uh…bring her here." I am so utterly confused by now. Why are two people telling me to permanently (unless it breaks) fasten a locket around someone's neck? Someone who seems to be dying. I grab a hot poker and slide the locket on the chain. I stare at it for a moment, intrigued, then snap back to reality and pull it around the girls neck. "Are you sure?" I ask, looking at the green-eyed one. She nods and frowns at me. I look back and put the poker to the two ends, melting them together and also burning the girl a little. I dump the poker in water and stand up. Then I realize they all have black streaks in their hair. A cult of some sort?
"We can't pay you."
I turn around and blurt out somehing that I know will change my life. "Yes you can. Take me with you."
The girl stares back, startled. After a few moments she says, "No?"
"Please."

A Black HoleAlexandra~
"He did fix my chain," l say, weakly, recovering. He also burned my neck. l would like to add, but l don't. "Well……" Says Lenore, doubtfully.
"Where are we going?" Asks Lu. "If we don't know, then l don't think we should bring him, and besides he'll get in the way."
"Aren't you greatful? Oh–l forgot, it wasn't your life that was endangered," l remark, a bit rudely.
"What you-"
l growl, deep in the back of my throat and turn to address the boy. "You can come." Adirr, who was lurking at the doorway of the smithy, bounds in and licks my hand. He then starts to lick the boy's hands. The boy laughs, and tries to push Adirr away.
"Is he yours?"
"Yes," l say, a bit jealous that Adirr liked someone else.
"C'mon," says Ben, "we don't have all day."
-
BrookeiraParticipantLenore-
"I'll take you to the Ricefield border. It's safe-"
I hear a growl, and not Alex's.
"Shhh…" I say.
The deafening silence is shattered-literally. The glass of the smithy shatters and a huge black dog runs in, snarling.
I push Ben, the one that interests me, against the wall and step forward. "What is t?" I say to it.
"The Black One is rising," it hisses.

Over the RainbowParticipantSorry I haven't posted at all!
Herb~
Every evening, I like to take a walk. Today was particularly hard on me, what with school and people at school, so the walk is refreshing. I walk through the woods in my backyard and come out on the other side on a quiet road. I walk past stately three-story houses made of brick, and keep going untill I reach the mansions, as if the other houses on the street aren't big enough. These houses have magnifecent courtyards, and probably hired gardeners to tend to them. I walk past them almost every night, but have never actually seen anyone there, in the garden or otherwise. Tonight is different. I have a habit of looking up when I walk, and as I look up, I see a girl with long blond hair leaning out of a third-story window! The ground below her is soft looking and grassy, but she could fall…
What am I doing worrying? I worry a lot, but that doesn't mean I have to worry about every random girl I meet!
She leans out farther. "Hello?"
-
KatydidParticipantQuinn~
"Oh, thank you!" I say with a big grin. Then my eyes widen as a question pops into my head. "Do I need anything?"
"Uh…some money? And maybe some clothes?" says the girl who agreed to let me come. The one I owe.
"Okay….I'll meet you at the edge of the forest…in an hour?"
"Uh…sure."
The green-eyed girl glares at me and adds, "And we won't wait."
I stare back at her then nod. Without a word they leave, and I grab my lunch. Suddenly I feel queasy and gulp. "Son, what are you doing?" Da asks.
"Uh…I'm…not feeling so good."
He stares at me for a little longer then pats me on the back. "Get better and come back tomorrow. I WILL see you then."
"Yeah…" I gulp and hurry out the door.
-
Carolion KParticipant~Emma~
"Hello?" I ask, a little startled to see someone else my age on the street, which is mainly inhabiteted by middle-aged people wyo barely ever come outside.
"You-you probably shouldn't lean out of the window that far," he says, looking up I tuck a strand of hair behind my ear.
"I'll be fine," I insist, a mere second before I tumble head first out of the window.
The ground rushes to meet me, and the boy runs to my side.
"Are you all right?" he asks, and I nod, getting up. I dust off my nightgown self-consciously, and the boy's gaze falls to my hair.
"What's the black streak?" he asks.
STORY INTERRUPTION SO I DO SOMETHING I CAN'T RESIST.
"I was born with it," I explain. "Although when I was little I dreamt I was kissed by a troll."
STORY INTERRUPTION OVER
"I was born with it," I explain, glancing at the ground. He nods, and I open my mouth to say my name, but before I can, a black, giant wolf runs towards me, with four kids racing after it…

Will TParticipantGASorry I haven't posted guys!
Ben-
I stared at the massive black brute of a dog that had just crashed clean through a window.
Leonore stepped forward. "Who are you?"
"I have come to deliver a message to the pageborns," it growled.
"Pageborns? That's an interesting term for us. All right then, what is it?" I asked.
"The Dark Master is coming." At hearing that name, I felt a strange rush of fear.
"Who is the Dark Master, exactly?" asked Lu.
" He is the last surviving pageborn wizard."
-
OtRParticipantHerb~
I pull the girl up by her hand, and turn to face the group that has just run across the lawn.
"Why is he here?" asks a girl at the front.
"Wh-who? Me?" I stammer.
"Yes, you. Why are you here?"
"I-I didn't kn-know I wasn't supposed to be."
"More importantly, you shouldn't be with her."
The girl from the window shoots a glare at the group. "Who are you, anyway?"
"We can only tell you that if he leaves."
"Um, alright." I start to back away.
But then the girl asks me, "Before you go-what's your name?"
"Uh…Herb."
"I'm Emma," she says sweetly.
"Will you, uh, be here tomorrow?"
"Probably." She smiles shyly.
"OK, um-"
"No time for your stupid pratter. Go!" Shouts the girl who I now realize must be the leader of the group. I give a terrified look and run off.
I think I'll walk back there tomorrow night.
-
Shadow DragonParticipantAlexandra~
As soon as the boy is out of sight, Lenore starts explaining to Emma what she explained to Ben and Lu and me.
"That wolf was werid. Really weird," l say to Ben.
"It was odd, and rather unexpected, but it did warn us."
"l wonder why Adirr didn't attack it," l muse. Ben shruggs. "Who knows?"
l walk over to Lenore. "Remember, we've got to go to the forest's edge soon. If we want be be in time we better leave now."
-
Carolion KParticipant~Emma~
I nod, not quite sure why I'm taking this so well. It all just seems to make sense–my adoption, my unhidable hair streak, my locket. But there's one thing I just can't get over. So I ask.
"But why can't we fall in love? And why can't we take off our lockets?" I ask. The never-revealing-yourself part makes sense to me, but not the other two. Leonore takes a deep breath, weighing two options in her mind. Does she tell me? Or does she not?
"Look, we are a much more anceint people than you realize," she begins. "The laws are sacred, part of who we are. If we remove our lockets or reveal ourselves, we'll die. And if we fall in love…" She shakes her head, and my mind races at the prospect of something so horrible as to be unspeakable. All I can manage is a small "Oh."
"Should we take her with us?" asks the owner of the dog, as if I'm not standing right in front of her.
-
BrookeiraParticipantLenore-
"By the ancient laws we have to," I say. Blast! We've lost sight of the wolf.
"Pageborn wizard… Pageborn… OH!" I give a gasp of shock. "He has our powers. All of them. I remember those from my lessons when there were other Pageborns."
"What happened?" asks Ben.
"N-nothing." I say, blinking back rare tears.
I run into the woods and wave for them to follow me. "We're going north," I say, "to the wisest Selricron I know of. The north is known for wisdom."
"Selricron?"
"Fae, very wise."
"FAIRIES?"
"Yes, now hurry up!"
Ben falls in stride with me. "What happened?" he whispers, "to the other Pageborns? Why…"
"They're gone, okay? They died when someone came to this town in the night and killed them…" I blink back all but a single tear, "and my father. I don't know if he was really my father, but he was a Pageborn and…" I can't bring myself to tell him that my father was one of the last Pageborn wizards. I storm ahead, choking back a sob.
"Hey, wait," he says, grabbing my hand and pulling me back.
I shake my head. "Let go," I say with fluent coldness, "I'm fine."
-
KatydidParticipantQuinn~
I had grabbed my knife, and some good boots. Along with a light jacket. I stand at the meeting place when they arrive, a new person in tow. They look tired, as if they just finished running a race. Maybe they did. I stare at them, suddenly feeling really out of place. Alexandra, not Alex, as she had told me, grabs my arm and jerks me toward the group. She lets go and we start walking without a word. I eye the irregular group and keep walking. My mind wanders as I come up with his funny idea. Maybe the people with black streaks are part of a cult and I'm some sort of sacrifice. At least that is probably what we look like. I gulp and glance at the green eyes girl. She has a look around her that intimidates me. I stand slightly taller, not wanting to show it.

OtRParticipantHerb~
It is very hot at night. I can't sleep. I open my bedroom window to try and coax some cool air in. I pause at the window for a second, looking at the eerie woods and shadows of trees. Suddenly, a few figures burst from the woods. I gasp. It's the odd group who I met just a few hours ago! By golly, they have that Emma girl, too! The creep slowly onto my lawn.
"Shh," hushes the leader. I lean my head out of the window to get a better look at them. My curiosity takes the better of me sometimes.
Emma looks up and sees me. "Hey!" she says. "Who's the one leaning out of a window now?"
"Hush, Emma!" says the leader.
"Lenore, it's OK. He's friendly, see?" I give a little wave.
"He's friendly, but we are on a mission. And he can't know about it." She says 'it' with extra emphasis, as if it has some huge meaning tangible only to that group.
"Could you, uh, please leave the yard?" I stutter. It's not the first time I sound really stupid. Oh, well.
Emma replies, "Yeah. We will. Good night, Herb."
"Night."
Boy, what a strange girl to be wandering outside with other strange people at half past ten. Come to think of it, the strange people all have pitch black streaks in their hair, like her…
-
Carolion KParticipant~Emma~
Leonore glares at me, but then there's a flicker of realization in her eyes.
"Emma, do you know Herb?" she asks cautiously.
"What?! Um, no! I mean, we just met last night, when you guys found me, so I only know his name and-"
"EMMA! You can't, fall, in, love!" Leonore shout so.
"Well then how do I stop myself?" I ask angrily. Leonore doesn't answer. Instead she begins to pace.
"You've started falling in love and she's almost had her necklace removed and he'll probably reveal himself before we know it, with the way my luck's going," she says in rhythm with her pacing.
-
Shadow DragonParticipantAlexandra~
"Oh, calm down Lenore," l call to her. "We'll be alright. As for you," l say, turning to Emma. "You know what she said. Don't see this boy of yours anymore. You can't fall in love. It's that serious."
"l know," says Emma, looking a bit sheepish. "It's just–l don't know how to explain it." "It's alright–" An unearthly noise pierces the air.
In five seconds flat, l have morphed into a wolf and am galloping off in the direction of the sound.
*****************************
Cyclone says pick. A real word!
-
KatydidParticipantOkay..so Quinn is with you guys if you didn't catch that. You jut kinda seem to be avoiding him. If you don't want him there let me know!!
-
Shadow DragonParticipantSorry! l forgot.
Let's say Alexandra didn't turn into a wolf before running after the sound.
-
KatydidParticipantOkay, thank you.
Quinn~
Alexandra takes after the sound and I stand there looking helpless. "Is there anything I can do?"
The person who seems to be the leader stares at me for a moment then nods. "Go with her of course!!"
I shrug then take of through the woods to find her. I manadge to catch up and I wave while running behind her. "Where exactly are we headed?" I ask.
"Toward the sound," she says through rushed breaths.
"Okay," I shrug and look head of me when she chuckles. "What?"
"You're agreeable," she grins.
"Thank you?" I say that just as we break through the brush into a clearing. What I see makes me pale all the way to my toes.
-
Shadow DragonParticipantAlexandra~
There, in the clearing is a floating mass of shadow. A sudden fear comes into my mind, not from the sight of the shadow, but from the shadow itsself.
Quinn halts, looking very pale. "W-what is it?" he stammers.
Just then, right before our eyes, it transforms into the shape of a man. But this thing, what ever it is, is not human.
"Lenore! Lu! Ben! Emma!" l yell, "Come! Hurry!"
