Clouded LeopardParticipantClawface
~~
Gravel dust drifted over my claws as I scraped them along the ground, mumbling quietly. A sudden noise from somewhere behind me startled me, and I jumped up, fur bristling. A griffin with dark russet feathers and fur strolled into the jailroom, a dead rabbit in his beak. He smiled smugly as he tossed it in. I tried not to rush, but I was starving. Just as I was about to snap it up, he pierced it with his claw, holding it in place.
"Not so fast, Clawface," he hissed, his red-yellow eyes glittering.
"Give me the rabbit, Redstone," I snarled, my claws leaving gashes in the stone, along with many others. Redstone smirked and began pulling it back towards him. Something snapped and I lunged at him, screeching. I just missed his claw as he hastily retreated from the cage, but I still clawed at the bars, my wings flaring. Redstone cackled and flicked his tail at my beak as he walked out calmly, even though I was still thrashing at the bars.
"Keep in the darkness," he growled. "It's where you belong." With, that, he closed the opening and sank me back into darkness. Rage consumed my mind and I tore at the rabbit, voraciously ripping the flesh. I rested my head on my now bloodstained claws, my anger subsiding slightly. Even after all these cycles I hate being trapped inside the suffocating darkness. I closed my eyes and began to talk again, the incoherent words soothing.
But then, for the second time, a grating sound from the opening alerted me, and I jumped up, claws out, expecting the arrogant face of Redstone. Instead, from what I could see, it was a silky white griffin with reddish spots along her back. She looked shocked to see me there, and flinched back as I slammd my bulk against the bars, snarling. "What are you?" I asked roughly. She looked slightly confused.
"What am I?" she repeated. "I'm a Yencira-Mist, obviously." Then she covered her beak, looking angry at mentioning it. A what? I thought. Yencira? MIST? What the claws is that?
Despite not wanting to speak, I said, "Um, Yen-what?" She raised an eyebrow, looking even more suspicious.
"Who are YOU, who doesn't know what a Yencira is?" I looked away, still furious. Who was she, to come in here and question me. But I decided to answer. Maybe, just maybe…
"I'm Sheet," I growled, deciding to use that name even though Clawface fitted me better now. SHe'd learne eventually anyways. "And I live here."
"Here?" she asked skeptically. "You actually live in here?"
"Yes," I said, maybe a little too loudly. "I always have, and I always will!" With this last bark of anger I slashed at the ground, leaving deep scores. She opened her beak to say something, but there were shouts from outside that interrupted her. Guards! I thought in panic. They'll kill anyone who comes in here. But if I– As the shouts grew louder and nearer to my dark room, I knew I'd only have one chance.
"Listen, Yenciri-whatever. Guards are coming. If you want to get out of here alive, free me and I'll help you fight out. Please, just–let me OUT!"

Floating on the breezeHey, sorry I didn't post yesterday. I had actually written something, just before bedtime, when my stupid browser randomly logged out and I lost it all. RRRRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGG.
Ok, that's done. Here's Emberfrost!
Emberfrost~
The storm winds blow, pelting rain at my feathers, and soaking my fur. I flap my wings extra hard, determined to land on the mountain that is only a quarter of a mile away. You can do this. Just….. A little….. Farther. Putting on an extra burst of speed, I land on the mountain, and rush into a rocky cave. Then, I curl up into a ball, and fall asleep.
When I wake up, I hear voices. I lift my head slightly, and see several burly, tough looking gryphons coming in from the rain. Panicked, I slip away farther into the cave. Then, I hear footsteps coming towards me from the other direction. Pressing against a wall, I watch a gryphon with russet fur and feathers walk past, beak and claws bloody. I shiver, wishing that my gleaming pelt would blend in better with the wall. Then, once the bloody gryphon passes by, I go farther into the cave.
A few minutes later, I come across a metal door. Curios, I walk up to it, and look inside. On the floor, muttering to himself, is a gryphon with red feather, striped with dark brown, a gold beak, and tan fur crisscrossed with scars. He sees me, and slams himself against the bars. His eyes, like raw amber, are intense and blazing. I back up, surprised, and the gryphon asks "Who are you?" In a rough voice. Oh, great, he has to bring that up. As if I don't get enough weird looks and insults already. My voice, intended to be scornful and annoyed, comes out sounding squeaky and confused. "What am I? I'm a Yenicira Mist, obviously." Wait, why did I just say that? I clamp a claw over my beak. Seriously? Why am I spurting information to a total stranger? Then, to my surprise, the gryphons asks "Um, Yen-what?" I raise an eyebrow. So he wasn't trying to be insulting. He really doesn't know. "Who are you, who doesn't know what a Yencira is?" The gryphon looks away, anger burning in his amber eyes. "I'm Sheet" he growls. "And I live here." Here? In this dump? Never being able to fly? Or see the sky? No wonder he doesn't know what a Yencira is! "Here?" I say, in blatant disbelief. "You actually live here?" "Yes, here." He says loudly, and scratches the ground. "I always have, and I always will." I open my beak, to ask why, when shouts come from outside. Panic flares in Sheet's eyes, and he says "Listen, Yencira-whatever. Guards are coming. If you want to get out of here alive, free me, and I'll help you fight out. Please, just– let me OUT!"
Ok. So, the options right now are a: Let this rather scary gryphon out to help kill the guards or b: get attacked by said guards. I turn to Sheet. "Before I let you out, I need to know one thing. Why are you in here?" Sheet fixes me with an intense stare. "Becuase I'm different" we make eye contact for a split second, and I know he's telling the truth. I begin to work at the lock, just as several guards burst into the room.

BrookeiraParticipantMyrra~
The gryphons of the Plains of Mist did not often venture outside of their home.
The Cliffit gryphons gaped at the pale gryphon that walked their crags, silent and grave as the fog itself. Rumor had it that she was there to examine the Cliffit prisoners. No one was sure why.
In truth? Myrra was there on a far more delicate mission.
The armory was in the cliffs near the prison. SHe had managed to glance inside, wary of the eyes upon her, and was relieved to see that they hid no weapons from the other tribes.
She did not expect to be caught up in a prison escape.
There was a shouting across the Cliffit camp she flew through. A Cliffit prisoner burst from a prison, followed by a-Yencira Mist? Myrra looked in fascination at the hybrid, her heart twinging for the poor thing under her emotionless face.
"Protect the Mist-" Cliffit guards whirled to protect the ambassador, but she was already in the air, whirling about the scene.
The Cliffit prisoner and Yencira-Mist escaped-with Myrra following silently behind.

Clouded LeopardParticipantSomeone else can write too, but I'll continue this scene for now…
Clawface
~~
Just as she sets her claws on the lock to my darkroom, the guards burst in, feathers bristling, tails lashing. One of them launches at the… Yencira-Mist, setting his claws into her white-and-red speckles feathers. Luckily, she's damaged the lock enough for me to scratch it off as she holds out (surprisingly well) against the guard. When he sees the lock drop to the floor, he scrambles backwards, eyes wide and terrified, and shouts, "He's out!" to his comrades. I smash the door aside, a burning rage filling my mind, and hurl myself at the nearest guard, beak snapping and claws out. At this point, all I can think about is the fact that they have been the ones imprisoning me for years just because I was stronger than all the rest. All I can hear is flesh ripping and the squealing of frightened griffins.
Maybe some died that day. I have no idea. I barged out into a thunderstorm, with cold, wet rain falling onto me. I'm just a whirl of attacking as I fight my way through the griffins in the village, trying to make my way towards some other place. But the rain is falling fast and hard in my eyes, and I honestly have no idea where I'm going. I haven't seen daylight or the outside world in so long I've no idea where to head. The I see the Yencira-Mist dart ahead of me, whipping around guards and kicking them out of the way as she heads for a rocky outcrop of mountains, springing into the air with a sweep of her silvery wings. I have nowhere else to go at this point, so I slash at one more griffin's eye and attempt to follow her.
The first time I spread my wings and jump into the air, I nearly plummet from the sky. I forgot how long it had been since I had properly had the chance to fly. I can barely struggle along as the rain lashes at my feathers. I can hear the sound of griffins following me, but I know I can't fight in the air. I stretch out my wings to their full capacity and bank sharply to the side, my muscles stretching with the effort. I spot an edgy and narrow cut-out chunk in the mountainside and head for it, diving in. I duly use my claws and my wings to scrabble along the skinny path, eventually losing them behind me. When I finally make it out on the other side, I see the Yencira-Mist vanish into the cave. Though I'm still not entirely willing to sleep in the same cave as a stranger, it's not like I have much choice now. I slink in, shaking out my rain-slicked feathers, and prowl to the side of the cave opposite hers, making sure she can hear my sharp claws clicking on the cave floor.
I flop down, completely exhausted. But just as I do, a question rises to my mind. "Hey, do you have a name other than Yencira-Mist?" I ask, my voice loud and awkward in the quiet cavern. I get no response for several minutes, then I hear an annoyed, "Emberfrost." After that it's quiet again. Emberfrost, I think, feeling myself being dragged into sleep. It sounds… sounds like… But before I can remember the word, I'm fast asleep.

Frryl~
I pressed a dozen bludgyberries into my palm, entranced in their haunting perfume. I could sense the slightest wisp of honey, a thick syrupy smell like the sap from a burrow tree. I pressed them between my talons, their shells immediately bursting from their huge amount of juices.
I carefully slipped the liquids into a cylindrical vial, corking the top before placing it into my satchel.
The sky had began to relieve itself of a few droplets, casting a stormy aura around the forest.
Have to leave!!!!!! B-day stuff!!!!! Woo HOO!!!!!!!

Flying over ThellanySorry I haven't posted in a bit! Clouded, hope this is ok with you, and that I didn't control Clawface too much.Emberfrost~I wake up early, sneak out of the cave, and go hunting. While I hunt, I think. Hard. When I come back, bearing a mountain goat in my talons, Sheet is already up. I throw the goat down. "Eat." He looks at me, skeptically. "There isn't a claw mark on this thing, you're not bloody, and you don't look like you're an experienced hunter. How did you catch this thing? Mountain goats are light on their feet, and hard to track down. I heard the guards taking about it." I shrug. "I'm part Yencira. I can paralyze animals….. Just not gryphons." Sheet starts to eat, then pauses. "You've eaten, right?" "Yeah. Dig in." Sheet wastes no more words, and begins eating ravenously. While he eats, I begin to speak. "So, Sheet….." Sheet pauses, swallows, and says "Clawface. My real name is Clawface." I nod. "Ok, sure. Can I call you Claw? Your face is fine." He pauses mid-bite, gives me a funny look, then says "I don't think so, about the face, but sure. If you want." I feel heat rising to my face, but I banish it and keep talking. "So, Claw, I'm not going to just leave you here. There's guards everywhere….." Claw cuts me off. "I can handle those on my own." I wince, remembering the bloody scene of last night. "Yeah, no kidding. But at a certain point, you can't fight everyone. So that's why I was thinking….. You could come with me? I've been all over; I could show you the sights, the gryphons, the beautiful views….. I could show you the world. Well, the places that I'm not chased out of, anyways." (*cue Aladdin singing on magic carpet* IIIIIIII can show you the worrrrrrrrld). Claw, who has just finished ripping apart the poor, unsuspecting goat (aka, prey) looks at me with his raw, amber eyes. I desperately hope he'll say yes, because being alone is……well….lonely.-

I hesitate, not wanting to answer straightaway. I hadn't really considered what would happen now that I was free from the prison… but I really couldn't go back. That was impossible at this point. i'd probably have worse things done to me than just being a captive. I look up at Emberfrost, the goat red and raw beneath my claws, and look her directly in the eyes.
Do I trust her? I just met her, after all. Do I think I'll survive? I'll definitely have to learn how to fly, to hunt, to know any type of griffin again…
Do I trust myself to not kill her?
It takes me a second to speak, but in that time I've fully thrown myself behind my decision.
"Yes," I say, getting to my feet. "I can't exactly go back to Cliffit now. So, yes, I'll join you." Secretly, a more primal part of me is screaming in joy at being with a griffin who doesn't want to taunt or kill me. Emberfrost tosses her head, looking like she knew I'd say that all along.
"Well, great then," she said, turning towards the exit of the cavern. "I would suggest we get out of Cliffit territory, because the guards will probably be roaming around and looking for you." She gestures out with her tail, and I follow, squinting in the bright morning sunlight. Emberfrost looks back at me quickly, then rolls her shoulders and jumps into the air, spiraling upwards. I swallow, suddenly uneasy, and try to copy her, almost immediately losing my balance. Struggling up, it takes me a few minutes to reach her level, and by then I'm straining myself.
"Um…" says Emberfrost, looking at me suspiciously. "You… can fly, right?"
"YES. I CAN DEFINITELY FLY," I say firmly, dropping several feet.
"Right," says Emberfrost, still looking skeptic. I breathe and try to copy her wing movements as she looks away, adjusting the flapping. "Well, I think we should head for the Prism Garden. There's a lot of places to hide there, and it's a much better place than Dampure."
"Oh, yeah. Dampure, right," I repeat, trying to commit the names to memory. So Dampure is bad, and the Prism Gardens are good. I think? Emberfrost shot off for somewhere to the east, and I followed in her tracks, eventually finding an airstream.
Part of me feels good and excited about this. I mean, it's finally someone who isn't a Cliffit guard. But… the other part of me is still worrying about what would happen if she ever makes me mad.
