Annabeth cParticipanttop“No!” I scream as he pushes me to the brick wall, his breath smelling like mint. He brings his face down to mine, and gives a bitter sweet smile.
“Cammy,” his voice is soft, “It’s over,” he whispers. But I know better.
“Leo, it’s only just begun,” I mumer only loud enough for him to hear. There is a blinding white light as my front door is kicked into women dressed in black approach us. Their hair slicked back, I shiver.
“I believe you know why we’re here,” the blonde one says. I shake my head not wanting to believe this. They are here for us, not only the last sane people, genetically mutated to change appearance, we have hid for so long, I still remember my mother’s last words, before they got her, don’t believe them, change is good, promise me they won’t get you. I promised her ?I would stay safe, promised her I wouldn't let her die for no reason. And what have i done with my life? Nothing that could have impressed her. I draw a shaky breath before shaking my head for a second time, unaware of what would happen. “You should have learned by now, that I don’t take no for an answer,” the black haired lady pulls a shotgun before I can register what happened, Leo is in front of me hs eyes trying so hard to stay open.
“Oh my god, what have you done?” I say softly already feeling my cheeks getting wet.
“I always knew I would take a bullet for you,” he was in pain, and I was sobbing hysterically. “And I always knew you wouldn’t take one for me,” he says his eyes closing. My hands shake as I get up walking toward the women. I hold out my hands as they lead me away.
“It didn’t have to end like this.”
