CockleburrParticipantWhen I first joined I called myself Lyra, after The Golden Compass, by Philip Pullman, because I really love that series! Then Scylla told me I couldn't be Lyra because there already was someone named Lyra. So I tried to come up with a new name, failed, and started doing my homework. Then, out of the blue, the name 'Cockleburr' popped into my head and I just knew that was my name. And that's what it's been ever since!

The FutureYou were named Lyra before, too? That's cool! I wonder if the other Lyra named herself that for the same reason. I love the name Cocklebur, it fits you perfectly!
-
CockleburrParticipantThank you, Ashlee! Wait, were you also called Lyra? Actually, the other Lyra's real name is actually Lyra. She goes by Elvina now, I believe.

Brooklyn NewsieParticipantWell, in case you couldn't already tell, I'm a HUGE fan of the 1991 movie Newsies, based on the Newsies Strike of 1899. I'm so obsessed that the Newsies Strike of 1899 is my National History Day topic. And, in the movie, I was so entranced by how tough and brave the Brooklyn newsies were, especially Spot (even though my Newsies movie cruch is Racetrack Higgins), and basically love the idea of yelling, "NEVER FEAR, BROOKLYN'S HERE!!!" everytime I walk into a room. Hmmmm… maybe I should try that every time I post on the CB… it'd get super annoying, though.
-
Embers in the AshesParticipantI think it would be kind of fun if you did that! Maybe just once a day, though 😉

Ashlee G.Participant15
The FutureI LOVE your name! I knew you were referencing it to that, but I actually never watched or really heard of the Newsies. If you shouted that phrase out at times on the CB I think it would be really cool!

GaredParticipantMy name is a MTG reference so obscure that I beraly even know it mysef. I am named after a minor scientist's assitant. I haven't changed it because I am horrible at names, and I will never think of anything good, or at least better.

Meggie S.Participant12
UKmy name is after Meggie Folchart from the book Inkheart, who is a Silvertongue.
Any one else read this book ?
It is awesome!

Claaws@BrooklynParticipantOMK, you will not belive this, but my brother is trying out for Disney's Newsis the musical sometime next week!! Wish him luck! 😉
To be honest, I dont really know where my name came from. My memory isnt the sharpest. 😉 But I came across a game that I havent played for a year or two, and it had a panther named Claaws, that I named. It was a panther simulator. 😉 Maybe i named it after my characture, or remembered that and decided to make a panther named Claaws after it. I really dont know. ;D

Brooklyn NewsieParticipant@ClaawsTell your brother to Seize the Day because he's the King of New York, and The World Will Know! Cue groans…

September ParticipantCool idea! My name is definitely not as cool as some of yours, but it comes from the book, The Girl Who Circumnavigated Fairyland in A Ship of her Own Making by Catherynne M. Valente. Has anyone read into?
-
Embers in the AshesParticipantI love that book too 🙂

Mirax T. Participant12
The Errant VentureMine is pretty simple. I'm a huge Star Wars fan, and the first SW books I read were the X-Wing: Rogue Squadron books. In the books, Mirax Terrik is a really cool smuggler. I liked the name Mirax, so I became Mirax T.
-
MiceareniceParticipantWell…I chose my name because 1. I love mice, and 2. It was the first thing that came to mind, and I had no wish to spend days thinking of a name. (I had an RP to join! XD) Although…there is a slight chance I might change it. If I can ever think of something better. Although, I highly doubt I will. But you never know what's going to happen in the future!
Chip says, "Curi!" Curious indeed…

@EmberParticipantFrom Poetic PandaHey Ember, I really like your name, but I understand where you're coming from on the Embers in the Ashes and Ember thing. I was thinking, Ember, what if you changed your name only slightly, to something like Glowing Embers? Just a thought. 🙂

EmberParticipantThanks, and yeah a lot of people get confused. If I do change my CB name, I'll probably change it completely just for a change. Idk. Thanks for the suggestion though!

Brown BearParticipantOkay guys. So, I REALLY LIKE BEARS. And I like to think I am similar to them. I made a list of reasons why and I've been longing for an excuse to share it.
1. Teddy bears; They're the iconic stuffed animal, soft and cuddly, and they represent the childhood that I can't quite let go (I mean, I still am a kid, right? I'm mainly talking about my carefree preschool and kindergarten years.) There's also this cute song I sang when I was little that began 'The bear went over the mountain.'
2. Smokey the Bear; He's this made-up bear character at campgrounds that always warns about fires. My family goes camping a lot and I like to think that I'm the one who warns the others about safety and the right thing to do.
3. Bear hug; I'm a hugger. I love this figure of speech.
4. In many cultures, the bear was often a symbol of courage but even more so a symbol of love. I believe love is sort of the center of everything.
5. My dad always told me that if I saw a bear in the woods, I shouldn't try to make any sudden moves because the most important thing is that you don't want it to startle. Odds are, it's more afraid of you than you are of it. This reminds me of shyness around people in real life.
6. Mother bears are awesome. They would do anything to protect their cub. I want to be like that.
And there are more reasons!! They're just a little more difficult to explain.
Anyway, I love bears. And I like "Brown Bear" because of its alliteration with the double b's and the imagery.
