Scylla, to LeeliParticipantDear Leeli,
I don't know if I'll have enough time in my life to be an artist or an author. I'm not sure if I could make time. Editing would just be an easy, fun way for me to contribute to this project, but it's okay that I can't do it. I should probably focus on becoming more active here again, instead of concentrating all my energy into a couple threads. Good luck with your project! I'll stay tuned for a bit to see what you all come up with. 🙂

@Scylla,Savvy,OTRParticipantLeeli
Claaws, and Mei!@OtR
Sorry, I thought I might have missed you! No, you're fine, that was all me! Don't worry, you're still in.
@Mei
I'd be glad to see you do both! If someone else comes along that would want to be an author or world builder, though, maybe you could choose just one? But for the time being, that's fine!
@Savvy
Sure! Yes! Actually, even if you aren't on a lot, you can be in this. I just don't want anyone to firget about it. If you can keep up with it, even if you don't post every day or two, every week would be enough I think.
@Claaws
See what I said to Savvy.
@Scylla
Actually, I think you would be really great at editing, and if that's the only position good for you in this project, I'd love to see you stay in this project and help the others edit! I've thought it through, and three editors is fine. Thank you!

Nebula@RiddlerParticipantHey Riddler, want me to post the charrie sheet I found? It's really big but it is amazing for developing characters.
-
Scylla, to LeeliParticipantIt would be great if I could be an editor! I'll also be a backup author. Here's a writing sample.
The full moon glimmers through the clouds overhead, casting an eerie glow into the forest. You shiver in an autumn breeze as it whisks through the branches, wishing you’d never taken that dare. You jump as a twig snaps behind you, but discover that it was only a rabbit. Caught in the glow of your flashlight, the frightened animal dashes away.
It had all started earlier today. You had been joking around with your friends, telling scary stories about the woods. Then one of them had dared you to enter the forest, alone, at night. The stories had seemed to ridiculous at the time, but now, as you carefully step over dead leaves, they don’t seem so far-fetched.
-
LeeliParticipantOk, great! Wow, I love that!
-
ScyllaParticipantThanks! It's the first two paragraphs of a story I wrote for school.

FireburstParticipantI think i know how the order of the chapter making goes:1. Everyone figures out how the chapter should go.2. The authors write that chapter.3. The artists figure out what the illustrations should be.4. The artists make and post the illustrations.5. The editors edit the chapter. (Maybe they add the illustrations in. Or is that the layout designer's job?)6. The chapter layout designer does whatever needs doing to the edited chapter.7. The chapter gets added to the other chapters of the book.8. Repeat till the book is done.Some of these things can work at the same time, like artists making the illustrations and the editors editing, and both could happen to one chapter while the authors are writing the next chapter.Is that about accurate?FYI, with our magazines, editors may suggest to the art director which scenes of a story might be illustrated. Then it's the designer's job to place the illustrations in the layout. The layout is reviewed by edtiorial at several stages where changes can be made. Most stages are a collaborative effort between editorial and art/design.

Tuxedo kitten ParticipantBag EndThanks for the tips Fireburst and Admins! Really helpful!

Embers in the AshesParticipantSo, what's the genre of the book? Do we have a plot yet?
-
Mei-xue (May-shreh) ParticipantFairylandFantasy.

Embers in the AshesParticipantThanks

-
Scylla @LeeliParticipantCan I help with everything? Like, I could make some minor characters, or help people design the book cover, or other things as well. I'll still edit, of course!
-
tyopParticipantdon't die.
Don't die.
DO NOT DIE ON ME!!!!!
-
-
OtR, @LeeliParticipantYou may have already specified this somewhere, but what is my role in this story? Thanks, Leeli!
-
CarolineParticipantI never come on Inkwell, but here I am :). This sounds like a really cool idea! Could I possibly help with the cover design? I can't post that super often, but a cover designer wouldn't really have to post regularly, would they? Here's my sheet:
Name: Caroline
Requested Position: Cover Designer
Next Best: Artist
How Often Will you be able to Post?: Probably about once every week on average? I don't want to overcommit, but I might be on more than that.
Plot Ideas: I love fantasy! I think with some tweaking, your idea would be really good, Leeli!
Best at: Drawing portraits and I guess some animals. I don't know how instrumental portraits are in cover design, but I guess maybe it could help. By the way, I do hope others will help me in the cover design endeavor. Someone commented about it above (sorry, can't remember who).
Writing/Art Sample: Here's some swans I did. You can also see on the Art Posting thread in PP some portraits I did of various Star Wars characters.
-
LeeliParticipantWOW, those are amazing! Cover designer is open!
-
-
Leeli@Scylla and OtRParticipantScylla,
Yes. Since character creating is mainly for the people who requested it, I wont take that away from them, but yes, you can make a/a few minor characters.
OtR,
It would be really great if you could be an author, because we don't have all that many yet. Your requested position was editor, but we already have enough editors. I hope this works for you!
-
OtRParticipantSure! I'd be delighted to be an author.
-
Scylla @LeeliParticipantSorry I'm so indecisive, but I'll be an author. Instead of being a full-time editor, could I just look over the final draft of the book at the end to ensure there aren't any mistakes?
-
Leeli@ScyllaParticipantThat's fine, Scylla! I'm just glad to have you in the group! 😀
-
-
-
PastellaParticipantName: Pastella
Requested Position: Author
Next Best: Artist
How Often Will You Be Able to Post?: Several times a week. 😉
Plot Ideas: Maybe there is a gigantic forest that many people live in (it has it's own kingdom and everything), but there is a special gem at the center of the forest that holds it all together…and maybe the gem is stolen?
Best At: Writing descriptive scenes
Writing Sample: Serena didn't know what to do. She had made a terrible mistake. All she had wanted to do was touch the Sacred Locket… And now the Monsters were unleashed out of the Monster Dome. Grabbing her sword, she raced towards the House of Knowledge, fighting off Monsters as she went. She knew she couldn't defeat these monsters on her own.
"Josh!" Serena called as she pounded on the door. Suddenly, the door opened and a boy with brown hair walked over to her.
"What's wrong?" he asked. Serena pointed behind her. "Everything, Josh," she said.
"Well, you called the right guy," Josh said, smiling. "Now, let's go chase those monsters into the sunset!"
To Be Continued…
