Well, AEBALL! said we could start after four and a half CBers commented with their Æs, and since we've passed that point, I thought it would be okay if I started. I hope that's okay with everyone.

I thought a ball would be enjoyable, a chance to get out, to meet some people. And, since Seren was going to come…

Well, I'm afraid I didn't exactly think this through. As I walk up to the building, I realize it's huge. I'm suddenly very uncomfortable. I'm not sure what I was expecting, but I wish I had stayed back home, in the woods. 

But I'm here now. I take a deep breath, and walk in.

The doors go straight into the ballroom, which is huge, and elegant, decorated beautifully. It makes me feel small. I glance around quickly, but I don't see Seren anywhere. I am one of the first ones to arrive, however, and soon a few more people arrive. 

I drift over to the refreshments, located at the end of the Ballroom, near a door that I assume leads into the battle room. I glance over the assortment of strange food and decide I'm not hungry. So I begin to pace, slowly. 

Devin~

I don't think Nymph is coming. She never signed up; I don't blame her. I know she prefers her woods. So I'm going stag. But I'm fine with that. It'll be nice to be able to go to ball without my nerves standing on end. Maybe it'll give me a chance to pull some pranks. I'm always nervous around girls. They're so unpredictable, and you never know what they're thinking. Except for Wren. I almost always know what she's thinking. 

The ballroom's huge. I immediately find the refreshment table and help myself to a handful of cookies, shoving them in my mouth before anyone can notice how many I've taken. I realize too late that maybe the way my cheeks are bulging is more noticeable than eating the cookies one at a time. 

Meh. At this point, I don't really care.  

I notice Far's over here, too. He's pacing, and he looks nervous. I almost feel bad for him. It's his first ball, and he's already got a date, although I don't think she's here yet. I was surprised he wanted to come. I thought he'd rather hide in the woods. By the way he looks, I think he's changed his mind about the whole ball thing. It must be awkward, being the only elf here yet. I'm sure he'll feel better when Seren gets here. 

I wander over to some seats pushed up against the wall and sit down. I need to plan out my first prank.

As I walk into the ballroom, I wonder why I'm here.  I don't have a date, I'm socially awkward, and I basically have no friends. I'll have to interact with people on a large scale. I'll probably be miserable. 

Leeli said that maybe I'll meet some nice people. But I kind of doubt that. 

I suddenly think of Storm. Silver said he'd be gone for the winter.

I can't wait for spring.
